Justice In The Grand Ballroom

Ethan: I'm not losing a wife tonight... I'm gaining the sister I thought I never had.

Clara: And I'm gaining a brother who was willing to stand up to his own mother just to protect me when he thought I was a stranger.

Eleanor: You showed true honor tonight, Ethan. Your father would be so proud of how you defended her, even before we knew who she was.

Ethan: Father always taught me to protect people who were being pushed around. I just had no idea I was protecting his own daughter.

Two uniformed Dallas police officers hurried through the grand entrance of the ballroom, guided by the hotel manager.

Officer Martinez: We received a 911 call regarding grand larceny, kidnapping cover-up, and corporate fraud. Who is the property owner?

Eleanor: I am, Officer. The suspect is my brother-in-law, Arthur Vance. He is currently held in the manager's office by our security team.

Officer Martinez: Do you have the documentation and DNA match verified, ma'am?

Ethan: Here is the official Texas DPS match file on my phone, Officer, along with the corporate wire transfers from Vance Logistics Holding paying off the foster care agency.

Officer Martinez: That's more than enough for probable cause. My partner will secure the suspect immediately.

The second officer nodded, walking swiftly down the side corridor toward the manager's office where Arthur was being held.

Officer Martinez: Ma'am, we're going to need you and your daughter to come down to the station later tonight to file formal statements.

Clara: We'll be there, Officer. We want to make sure Arthur never hurts another family again.

Eleanor: Thank you, Officer. Please ensure he stays in custody overnight.

Officer Martinez: With evidence like this, Ms. Vance, he won't be getting bail anytime soon.

The officer walked off to assist his partner, leaving the family standing together in the center of the grand room.

Hotel Manager: Mrs. Vance... what should we do about the three hundred guests, the dinner service, and the wedding cake?

Eleanor: We are turning this wedding party into a welcome-home celebration for my daughter, Evelyn Clara Vance!

The crowd of guests broke into thunderous applause and cheers, raising their champagne glasses high under the sparkling chandeliers.

Ethan: I'll tell the DJ to change the music from wedding marches to a real party soundtrack!

Clara: Wait... I still have a torn dress strap!

Eleanor: Come with me to the bridal suite upstairs, my sweet girl. I have a vintage silk shawl in my luggage that matches your dress perfectly.

Clara: I would love that, Mom.

Eleanor froze for a second, a soft tear rolling down her cheek as she heard the word "Mom" for the very first time in twenty-two years.

Eleanor: Call me Mom as many times as you want... I've waited twenty-two years to hear you say that word.
