A Secret Buried For Decades

Arthur: This is outrageous! I am leaving this party right now. We can discuss your mental breakdown in private tomorrow, Eleanor.

Ethan: You're not going anywhere, Uncle Arthur. Security, close the ballroom doors!

Two tall security guards stepped in front of the exit doors, blocking Arthur's path.

Arthur: Ethan! I am your uncle and the Chief Financial Officer of Vance Enterprises! How dare you order security against me!

Ethan: You told my mother for twenty-two years that my sister died in a nursery in San Antonio. If Clara has that exact locket, you have a lot of explaining to do.

Clara: My foster care records said an anonymous male donor dropped me off at the Austin fire station with a trust fund stipend that was paid out every month until I turned eighteen.

Eleanor: A trust fund stipend? How much was the monthly check, Clara?

Clara: Five thousand dollars a month. It came from a private corporate account called Vance Logistics Holding.

Eleanor: Vance Logistics Holding?! That is Arthur's personal subsidiary company!

Arthur: That's a coincidence! Plenty of companies use that name!

Ethan: There is only one Vance Logistics Holding in the state of Texas, Arthur! I sign the tax audits every year!

Eleanor: You monster! You stole my newborn daughter from her crib while I was fight for my life in the ICU!

Arthur: I didn't steal anyone! You were in a medically induced coma for three weeks! The family business was on the verge of bankruptcy!

Eleanor: What does my baby have to do with the family business?!

Arthur: Your late husband's will explicitly stated that if you had a surviving female heir, seventy percent of the Vance Estate trust fund would instantly transfer to her individual trust upon her twenty-first birthday!

Ethan: What?! Father left seventy percent of the fortune to his daughter?!

Arthur: Yes! Your father knew I was managing the main company! If the trust transferred to a baby girl, I would have lost all control of the board of directors!

Clara: So you paid someone to take me away... just so you could keep control of the money?

Arthur: I made sure you were taken care of! I sent five thousand dollars every single month to that foster agency! You lived a comfortable life!

Eleanor: You robbed me of raising my own daughter for twenty-two years so you could sit in a corporate boardroom and drive luxury cars!

Eleanor lunged forward, her face twisted in pure rage, but Ethan quickly caught his mother by the shoulders, holding her back as she shrieked at Arthur.

Eleanor: You stole my child! You told me I buried her in a closed casket! What was in that casket, Arthur?! What did I bury?!

Arthur: It was just a memorial service, Eleanor! It was business!

Ethan: Business?! You paid off hospital staff to forge a death certificate for my baby sister!

Arthur: I saved the company, Ethan! If that trust had been frozen in a minor's estate, Vance Enterprises would have gone bankrupt in 2005!

Clara: You ruined my entire life! I grew up moving from house to house, thinking nobody wanted me! Thinking my parents abandoned me on a cold doorstep!

Arthur: You turned out fine, didn't you? You're standing here in a luxury hotel in Dallas! You're marrying Ethan anyway!

Eleanor: She isn't just marrying Ethan... she is the rightful owner of seventy percent of everything you think you own!

Arthur: The statute of limitations on child abandonment and fraud in Texas is long expired! You can't touch me legally!

Ethan: You think the statute of limitations covers human trafficking, forging state death records, and embezzling fifty million dollars from a minor's trust fund?

Arthur: I have the best defense lawyers in Texas! Good luck proving any of this in court without physical evidence!

Clara: I have the physical evidence right here around my neck. And I have the original DNA record from the state foster database.
