Evelyn: That camera doesn't work! You told me the pool system was offline for repairs!
Arthur: The pool heaters were offline, Mother. The four-K optical security system records directly to a secure cloud server twenty-four hours a day.
Sarah: You thought nobody was watching, Evelyn. You thought you could scare Toby into compliance while Arthur was inside working.
Evelyn: Delete it, Arthur! Delete that footage right now! If the press gets hold of this, our company stock will plunge!
Arthur: You think I care about company stock when my son was choking on water thirty seconds ago?!
Evelyn: Think of the Sterling legacy! Your father built this brand from nothing!
Arthur: My father would have thrown you out himself if he saw you hit a six-year-old child.
On the phone line, the operator's voice crackled clearly through the speakerphone.
Dispatcher: Nine-one-one emergency, what is your location?
Arthur: This is Arthur Sterling at forty-two Ocean Drive, Palm Beach. I need immediate police units at my residence for a child abuse incident and assault.
Evelyn: ARTHUR! NO! STOP IT!
Arthur: The suspect is my mother, Evelyn Sterling. She physically struck my six-year-old son and threw him into the deep end of our pool without flotation equipment.
Dispatcher: Is the child out of the water, sir? Does he require medical attention?
Arthur: He is out of the water, but he swallowed a significant amount of chlorine. Send an ambulance as well.
Dispatcher: Units are en route, sir. Stay on the line.
Arthur lowered the phone, staring down at Evelyn with absolute coldness as she wept on the wet patio floor, her silk robe soaked in spilled iced tea.
Evelyn: You're destroying our family, Arthur! You're choosing a common maid and her weak child over your own blood!
Arthur: Sarah is my wife, and Toby is my son. You are nothing to us anymore.
Evelyn: I gave you life! I gave you everything you have!
Arthur: And today, you lost everything you had.
