Paramedic: Mr. Sterling, your daughter has some minor bruising on her forearm, but thanks to your catch, she has no broken bones or internal injuries. She's a very lucky little girl.
David: Thank you so much, Sarah. Thank God I came back for those papers.
Chloe: Daddy, is Victoria ever coming back here?
David: No, Chloe. She is never coming back to this house again.
David picked up Chloe and held her tight against his shoulder, walking out onto the front porch as the police cars drove down the driveway with their lights flashing.
Chloe: What's going to happen to all her things in her room?
David: I'm having the staff throw every single piece of her clothing into the trash bags this afternoon.
Chloe: Can we put Mom's pictures back up on the walls now?
David smiled softly, kissing Chloe's cheek as tears filled his eyes.
David: Yes, sweetie. Every single picture of your mother is going right back on these walls today.
They walked back inside the quiet mansion, leaving the heavy front doors open to let the fresh morning air fill the grand foyer.
David: From now on, it's just you and me. Nobody will ever threaten our home again.
Chloe: I love you, Daddy. You saved my life today.
David: I will always save you, Chloe. Always.
David walked up the grand staircase with Chloe in his arms, turning past the American flag and heading toward her bedroom to spend the rest of the day together.
The dark chapter of their lives was finally over, and justice had finally been served in the home they built together.
