Julian walked up the grand marble stairs, heading straight for the nursery at the end of the second-floor hallway. He knocked gently on the wooden door.
Julian: Elena? It's Julian. It's safe now, she's gone.
The lock clicked from the inside, and the door opened slowly. Elena stood there, holding little Lily tightly in her arms. The toddler was still whimpering softly, her arms wrapped around a stuffed teddy bear.
Elena: Is she really gone, Mr. Sterling?
Julian: She is in police custody, Elena. She will never step foot inside this mansion or come anywhere near Lily ever again.
Elena let out a deep, shuddering breath, leaning her head against the wooden doorframe as tears streamed down her cheeks.
Elena: Thank God... I was so scared she was going to hurt her again.
Julian: Elena... I need to say something to you.
Elena: Yes, sir?
Julian: You didn't hesitate for a single second. You threw your own body across a hard marble floor, risking serious injury just to catch my daughter.
Elena: I love Lily like she was my own little sister, Mr. Sterling. I promised your late wife before she passed away that I would always look out for her. I would do it again a thousand times over.
Julian looked at the brave maid, his heart filled with immense gratitude and deep respect.
Julian: A maid's uniform is not fit for someone like you, Elena. You are the true heart and protector of this home.
Elena: Sir? What do you mean by that?
Julian: As of today, you are no longer a servant in this mansion. I am appointing you as Lily's full-time personal guardian and our official estate manager, with a salary three times what you make now, full health benefits, and a permanent trust fund in your name.
Elena's hands flew to her mouth in utter shock, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Elena: Mr. Sterling... I can't accept all of that! I didn't save her for money or titles!
Julian: I know you didn't. And that is exactly why you deserve every bit of it. You gave my daughter the genuine love and protection her stepmother refused to give her.
Lily reached out from Elena's arms, wrapping her tiny hands around Elena's neck and pressing her cheek against hers.
Lily: I love you, Elena! Don't leave me!
Elena: I'm not going anywhere, my sweet girl... I'm right here with you forever.
Julian watched them, feeling a warmth in his chest that he hadn't felt since his wife passed away two years ago.
The mansion was finally quiet, free from the dark cloud of deceit that Victoria had brought into their lives.
Julian: Let's go downstairs and get some food. Both of you need rest after what happened today.
Elena: Thank you, Mr. Sterling. Truly, thank you for believing me over her.
Julian: You proved your loyalty with your actions, Elena. Victoria only proved her greed with her words.
They walked down the grand staircase together, leaving the dark nightmare behind them as they stepped toward a brighter future.
Outside, the sun was beginning to set over the Palm Beach estate, casting a warm golden glow across the quiet yard.
Julian knew the legal battle ahead in court would be intense, but with the video evidence and Elena by his side, he knew his family was finally safe.
