Hands Behind Your Back

The Stepmother Dropped My Daughter Off The Balcony On Purpose

The heavy front double doors swung open once again, and three police officers walked quickly into the mansion foyer with their hands resting on their sidearms.

Officer Davis: Police! Is everyone safe inside this property?

Julian: Officer, over here! My daughter is upstairs with our maid, safe. The suspect is standing right next to the sofa.

Julian pointed directly at Victoria, who was cowering near the couch in her bright orange gown, frantically trying to smooth down her hair.

Victoria: Officers! Thank goodness you're here! My husband just assaulted me! He pushed me down onto the floor and he's making up wild accusations!

Officer Davis: Ma'am, keep your hands where I can see them and stay right where you are.

Julian: Officer, she attempted to murder my three-year-old daughter by throwing her off the second-floor balcony. I have full video and audio evidence of the crime recorded on my cloud server.

Julian stepped forward, showing his phone screen to Officer Davis. The officer took the phone, watching the clear video file play across the glass display.

On the phone speaker, Victoria's cold, merciless voice echoed clearly through the quiet room: "Say goodbye to your precious little girl!"

The footage showed Victoria opening her hands, letting the screaming child drop through the air before Elena sprinted across the foyer to catch her.

Officer Davis: My God... Turn around right now, ma'am. Put your hands behind your back.

Victoria: NO! GET AWAY FROM ME! YOU CAN'T ARREST ME! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO MY FATHER IS?!

Officer Davis: I don't care who your father is, ma'am. You are under arrest for attempted capital murder of a minor, aggravated child abuse, and reckless endangerment.

Two officers grabbed Victoria's arms, twisting them behind her back. The sharp metallic click of steel handcuffs echoed across the foyer as she thrashed and kicked violently.

Victoria: JULIAN! YOU MISERABLE COWARD! YOU DESTROYED MY LIFE!

Julian: You destroyed your own life the second you decided a child's life was worth less than a bank account.

Victoria: MY FAMILY LAWYERS WILL TEAR THIS EVIDENCE TO PIECES! I WILL BE OUT ON BAIL BEFORE THIS NIGHT IS OVER!

Julian: I have enough wealth and legal resources to make sure you spend every single day of the next forty years behind bars. Enjoy your prison cell, Victoria.

The officers dragged Victoria out through the grand double doors, her bright orange evening gown trailing along the floor as she screamed profanities into the night air.

The front doors slammed shut, leaving the foyer in sudden, peaceful silence.

Julian let out a long, trembling breath, wiping his sweaty forehead before turning toward the grand staircase.

Julian: It's over... it's finally over.

He walked over to the bottom of the stairs, leaning heavily against the banister as the adrenaline in his body slowly began to fade.

He looked at the exact spot on the marble floor where Elena had caught Lily, noticing the faint scuff marks from her sliding knees.

Julian: She saved her... she actually saved my little girl's life.

He knew that if Elena had been ten seconds slower, or if she had frozen in fear, his entire world would have been shattered today.

He pulled out his phone again, dialing his personal family attorney, Mr. Bennett.

Mr. Bennett: Julian? What's going on? I saw three emergency alerts on my screen.

Julian: Bennett, prepare the emergency court documents immediately. Victoria was just arrested for attempted capital murder.

Mr. Bennett: What?! Is Lily alright?!

Julian: Lily is safe thanks to our maid, Elena. I need you to file for an immediate annulment based on criminal felony charges. Void the prenuptial agreement under clause twelve.

Mr. Bennett: I am drafting the petition right now. She won't receive a single dollar from your estate or your late wife's trust.

Julian: And Bennett... prepare a new deed document as well. I want to transfer full ownership of our guest house property and a five-hundred-thousand-dollar trust fund directly into Elena's name.

Mr. Bennett: Understood, Julian. I will have the papers delivered to your house within the hour.
