The Palm Beach breeze blew hot across the second-floor balcony of the Sterling mansion. Behind the dark wooden railing, a large framed American flag hung quietly on the wall. Victoria stood near the edge, her bright orange evening gown vivid against the white marble, holding three-year-old Lily over the open drop. The little girl sobbed loudly in her white dress, her small legs dangling over the marble foyer twenty feet below.
Victoria: Say goodbye to your precious little girl!
Lily: Mommy Victoria, don't! Help me, Daddy!
Victoria: Your daddy isn't here to save you, you ungrateful brat. He will spend the rest of his life believing you slipped while playing.
Without a single second of hesitation, Victoria opened her hands wide. Lily let out a terrifying shriek as she tumbled through the open air toward the marble stone floor below. Down in the grand hall, Elena, the house maid, dropped her cleaning cloth and sprinted across the white marble foyer with all her strength.
Elena: NO! I'VE GOT YOU, LILY!
Elena threw her body across the hard stone, sliding on her knees with her arms stretched out as far as she could. A heavy thud echoed through the mansion as Elena caught the little girl safely in her arms just inches above the floor. They tumbled together across the wet stone, collapsing near the grand staircase while Lily wept uncontrollably.
Elena: You're safe, I've got you... Shhh, it's okay, sweetheart, I'm here...
Elena squeezed the shivering toddler tight against her chest, her face covered in tears of pure relief as she comforted the child. High heels clicked rapidly down the marble stairs as Victoria rushed down, looking frantic, defensive, and ready to twist the truth. But as the front double doors suddenly burst open, Victoria had no idea that her dark plot was about to crumble in front of everyone.
