Chloe stared at her husband with complete confusion written across her face.
"What are you saying, Mark?" Chloe demanded while shaking her head in disbelief.
"This is just our lazy maid who cannot even clean a floor properly."
Mark turned his head fast and looked at Chloe with pure white rage.
"Shut your mouth right now, Chloe!" Mark shouted at the top of his lungs.
Elena slowly stood up from the soaking wet white marble floor with dignity.
She wiped her silver hair back away from her face with a quick hand.
"I am not a maid, Chloe," Elena said with a strong, calm tone.
"I am Elena Vance, the actual owner of this entire housing estate."
Chloe let out a nervous laugh that echoed around the high, white ceilings.
"That is impossible!" Chloe screamed as her face turned bright pink with fear.
"My father bought this house for us when we got married last year!"
Elena reached into her wet dress pocket and pulled out a small black phone.
She tapped the glass screen twice and held it close to her wrinkled ear.
"Arthur, please bring the legal files into the main house now," Elena said.
Mark walked over to his aunt and offered her a dry white towel.
"I am so deeply sorry you had to endure this treatment," Mark whispered quietly.
"I had no idea you were working inside my house as a housekeeper."
Elena looked at her nephew with soft eyes full of deep family love.
"I wanted to see how my family treated common working people," Elena explained.
"I spent three months watching how your new wife behaves behind closed doors."
Chloe backed away toward the grand wooden staircase with wide, frantic eyes.
She knew that the name Vance belonged to the city's largest investment company.
The front door opened again and an old attorney stepped inside the room.
He was carrying a thick leather binder packed full of official white documents.
"Good evening, Mrs. Vance," the lawyer said as he gave a formal bow.
"I have all the property trust fund deeds ready for your final review."
