The Nanny Saved My Baby From The Fallen Heir

The polished marble floor of the grand foyer stretched out like a frozen lake beneath the towering stained-glass window. Sunlight streamed through the glass, casting a sharp glow over the massive United States flag hanging beside the grand spiral staircase. Up above, the heavy iron banister curved gently toward the upper suites. It was a quiet morning in the Sterling mansion, the kind of quiet that usually belonged to immense wealth and total control. But that silence shattered in a single terrifying heartbeat.

Clara: Oh god! The stroller!

A metal rattling echoed down the staircase, fast and frantic. The heavy baby stroller was plunging down the wooden steps, bouncing violently off the steps. Down below in the hallway, Clara dropped her cleaning cloth. Her heart slammed against her ribs as she looked up. High above, her tiny eight-month-old charge, Lily, was strapped inside, her tiny cries instantly swallowed by the roar of clattering wheels and rushing air.

Clara: Hold on, baby! I'm coming!

Clara sprinted toward the base of the stairs, her sneakers skidding on the slippery floor. The stroller slammed into the lower curve of the banister, tipping wildly sideways. In mid-air, the leather harness snapped loose under the violent force. The tiny baby flew out into the empty space above the hard floor, tumbling downwards like a falling feather.

Clara: I got you!

Clara threw herself forward, sliding across the cold stone on her knees with her arms extended. She caught the crying child inches from the marble, pulling the infant tight against her chest as the heavy metal stroller crashed beside them in a shower of broken plastic. Clara panted heavily, tears streaming down her pale cheeks as she squeezed the child close to her beating heart.

Clara: You're safe. You're safe, sweetie. I've got you.

The heavy front doors burst open with a loud thud, slamming against the tall entrance wall.

Victoria: Mark! Look at what she did! She pushed the stroller!

Victoria strode into the room in her tall red heels, her face twisted in fake panic as Mark, the master of the house, ran in right behind her. Clara looked up from the floor, her chest heaving as Victoria pointed an accusing finger straight at her head, laying the ground for a lie that was meant to destroy her forever.
