Eleanor: Detective, please! This is a terrible misunderstanding! My late husband's doctors handled all medical prescriptions!
Detective Vance: Dr. Reynolds gave a full confession to federal agents two hours ago, Mrs. Sterling. He provided the bank account numbers you used to transfer his bribe money.
Clara: Mother... tell me he's lying. Tell me you didn't do this!
Eleanor: Clara, shut your mouth! Don't say another word!
Detective Vance: Officers, place Mrs. Sterling under arrest.
The two uniformed officers stepped forward, pulling Eleanor's arms behind her back. The cold steel handcuffs clicked firmly around her wrists, her gold embroidered gown crumpling as she thrashed against their grip.
Eleanor: Get your hands off me! Do you know who I am? I am the head of the Sterling family!
David: You're a thief and a murderer, Eleanor. And your time is finally up.
Clara: David, please... don't let them drag my mother out in front of the press! Think about our wedding!
David: There is no wedding, Clara. Take off that dress and get out of my father's house.
Clara: Your father's house? This mansion belongs to my family!
Sarah: Read the deed on page three, Clara. The property title is registered under the Vance Family Trust, which David and I now control.
Clara looked at the document in David's hand, her lips trembling as tears finally spilled over her heavy wedding makeup.
Clara: You ruined my life, Sarah... You ruined my entire wedding day!
Sarah: You ruined your own life the second you slapped me across the face for trying to show David the truth.
Detective Vance: Let's go, Mrs. Sterling. Watch your head.
The officers led Eleanor down the grand staircase into the main hall. High-society guests stood frozen along the marble floor, taking photos and video clips on their smartphones as the matriarch of the Sterling family was dragged out in handcuffs.
Guest A: Did you hear that? She poisoned Arthur Vance for his trust fund!
Guest B: And she locked his daughter in the servant quarters for five years! What a monster!
Eleanor: Turn those cameras off! All of you, delete those videos right now!
The heavy glass exit doors pushed open, and the cold night air rushed into the warm ballroom. Flashing red and blue lights illuminated the front driveway, where three police cruisers were parked along the marble steps.
Reporters swarmed the vehicle, flashbulbs exploding continuously as Eleanor was pushed into the back seat of the lead cruiser.
Reporter A: Mrs. Sterling! Is it true you forged Arthur Vance's last will?
Reporter B: Did you poison your husband for forty million dollars?
The heavy car door slammed shut, cutting off Eleanor's shrill screaming as the police cruiser sped away down the long estate driveway.
Upstairs on the balcony, David stood beside Sarah, watching the red lights fade into the dark night. He took his sister's hand, squeezing it gently.
David: I'm so sorry, Sarah. I'm so sorry I wasn't there to protect you all these years.
Sarah: You're here now, David. That's all that matters.
David: Tomorrow morning, we go to the corporate office and reclaim our father's company.
Sarah: Together?
David: Together. As brother and sister.
