The grand ballroom of the Sterling estate was packed with two hundred high-society guests, all dressed in black-tie attire. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm, blinding glow across the polished marble floors, reflecting off silver champagne buckets and massive floral arrangements. Near the center of the hall, an American flag hung proudly on the tall white wall above the altar, framing the lavish wedding underway.
Clara: Stand still, David. The photographer is trying to get our good side.
David: I am standing still, Clara. You’ve been adjusting my bowtie every two minutes.
Clara: Because this wedding is going to be flawless. My mother spent three million dollars on this venue, and I won't have a single flower out of place.
Clara adjusted her royal lace wedding gown, her diamonds sparkling under the bright lights. Standing beside her in a sharp dark tuxedo with a small US flag patch on his lapel was David, the sole heir to the Sterling real estate fortune. But as the minister prepared to speak, a sudden rustle of fabric echoed from the catering doors near the back of the hall.
Clara: What is she doing out here?
A young maid named Sarah stepped onto the marble floor, her grey uniform wrinkled, her hands trembling as she clutched an old silver pocket watch inside her apron. Her cheeks were bruised, and tears welled in her eyes as she pushed past the catering staff.
Clara: Get away from my husband!
Clara marched forward and angrily shoved Sarah with both hands. Sarah stumbled backward, her shoes sliding across the slick marble floor as a sharp gasp rippled through the crowd.
Sarah: You must see this!
David: Clara, stop it! What is going on?
Sarah: David, please... look at this picture before you marry her!
Sarah reached deep into her apron pocket, pulling out a faded black-and-white vintage photograph of a young man in a tailored suit. She held it directly in front of David's face, her hands shaking violently as tears streamed down her face.
David: Who is this?!
Sarah: That is your real father... and he's the man she destroyed!
David’s breath hitched in his throat as he stared at the face in the old photograph, setting off a chain of events that would shatter the Sterling empire forever.
