David: What phone, Lily? What do you mean?
Lily: Under my bed. Small black phone.
Chloe: She is lying! David, do not listen to this little brat!
David: Keep your mouth shut, Chloe, or I will call the police to drag you out in handcuffs right now!
Chloe: You cannot call anyone! You do not know what is going on here!
David ignored Chloe and knelt down in front of Lily, taking his daughter's trembling hands into his own. Tears were streaming down the little girl's cheeks, leaving wet streaks over her pale skin. David's chest felt like it was breaking as he looked into her eyes, realizing how much pain she must have carried in silence.
David: Lily, sweetie... why did you pretend to be deaf all these years?
Lily: Step-mom said... if I talk, she kill you.
David: What? She threatened you?
Lily: She said... if I speak words, she put me away in a dark house. She made doctor give me bad medicine to make me quiet.
David: Oh God... my poor baby...
Chloe: That is complete slander! I cared for that child when her biological mother abandoned her!
David: Her mother died of cancer, you monster! You didn't care for anyone but yourself!
Chloe: I gave up three years of my youth to live in this lonely mansion with you and your broken family!
David: You lived here because I paid for your clothes, your cars, and your entire lifestyle!
Chloe: And I deserved every single cent! You think you are so smart, David? You didn't even notice your own daughter could hear every single word we said in this room!
Lily: I heard you talk to lawyer man! You said Dad's heart medicine was switched!
David turned his head sharply, staring at Chloe with a terrifying coldness. His hands balled into tight fists at his sides. The room was so quiet that the faint sound of the burning wine chemical on the floor was clearly audible.
David: My heart medicine? You tampered with my daily prescription?
Chloe: She is a child, David! Her testimony means nothing in a court of law!
David: We will see what a court says when the police test that bottle and my pill cabinet!
Chloe: Go ahead and call them! By the time they get here, you will realize you have no estate, no money, and no power!
David: What are you talking about?
