Six months later, the morning sun shone brightly across the green backyard of a beautiful two-story coastal home.
Julian sat on the back porch bench, holding his newborn daughter safely in his arms while swaying gently back and forth.
Clara: She finally fell asleep, didn't she?
Julian: Just a minute ago. Look how peaceful she looks, Clara.
Clara walked out onto the wooden deck carrying two warm mugs of tea, sitting down closely right beside her husband.
Clara: She looks just like you when she sleeps.
Julian: She gets her courage from her mother, though. That's for sure.
Clara: Did Arthur call you this morning with the final court updates?
Julian: Yes. The judge finalized Evelyn's sentencing hearing an hour ago.
Clara: What was the final verdict?
Julian: Fifteen years in state prison without early parole eligibility for the attempted murder charge, plus full financial restitution.
Clara: Do you feel sad for her at all, Julian?
Julian: I feel sad for the person she could have been, but she chose greed and hatred over her own family.
Clara: She made her choices, and now she has to face the real consequences of what she did.
Julian: Exactly. And we get to focus on what really matters right here in front of us.
Julian reached over and pulled Clara gently against his shoulder, looking down at his sleeping baby daughter.
Clara: What should we name her middle name, Julian? Have you decided yet?
Julian: I was thinking Grace. Because she brought so much grace and healing into our lives after everything we went through.
Clara: Grace... Lily Grace Sterling. It's absolutely perfect.
Julian: No more dark secrets, no more lies, and no more fear. Just our family.
Clara: Just our family, starting right now.
The ocean breeze drifted through the quiet yard as Julian kissed his wife's forehead, holding his family tight under the bright, clear sky.
