The cold marble floor pressed against Sarah’s pale face as she clutched her swollen hand. She tried to pull her fingers back, but the sharp heel of a designer shoe slammed down directly on her skin, pinning her to the bright hall floor of the villa.
Victoria: You thought you could just walk into this estate and demand a share of the inheritance, didn’t you?
Sarah: Please, Victoria... stop! My father left that trust fund to me!
Victoria: Your father is gone, Sarah. And nobody is here to save you from me now.
Victoria pressed her heel down harder, grinding her foot into Sarah’s hand. Sarah cried out in agony, tears burning her eyes as she tried to push herself up against the wall. A large American flag hung quietly on the wall behind them, framed in gold.
Sarah: You tricked him into changing the will! You lied to the family lawyer!
Victoria: Words don’t matter without proof, sweetheart. And who are they going to believe? A grieving widow, or a broke stepdaughter?
Sarah: God is watching you, Victoria!
Victoria: Let him watch. He won't stop me from taking every single cent of this estate.
Victoria leaned down, her face inches away from Sarah's, her eyes dark with hatred. But before she could speak another word, the heavy double doors at the front of the villa burst open with a sudden, thunderous crash. Fast, heavy footsteps echoed through the grand foyer, stopping Victoria in her tracks.
David stood at the threshold, his tuxedo shirt disheveled, his jaw tight as his eyes locked onto his mother's foot pressing down on Sarah. His breath hitched in his chest as horror washed over his face.
David: What... what are you doing to her?!
Victoria: David! Look at that!
Victoria gasped, her face turning pale as she frantically pointed her finger toward the high corner of the marble ceiling, trying to divert his eyes before he could step closer.
