The Truth In Court

He Stopped His Wife From Dropping His Son On Marble

Six months later, the Palm Beach County Courthouse was packed with local news reporters, high-society observers, and legal teams.

Nora sat at the defense table in a dull orange prison jumpsuit, her blonde hair messy and unstyled, her hands chained to a heavy leather belt around her waist.

Across the courtroom sat Arthur Sterling, looking sharp in a navy blue suit, with little Leo sitting happily on his lap.

Beside them sat Elena, wearing a neat navy dress, waiting to deliver her final witness testimony.

Judge Davis: "We are in session for sentencing in the State of Florida versus Nora Sterling."

Defense Lawyer: "Your Honor, my client suffered a sudden loss of physical coordination due to severe anxiety! We request leniency and a sentence of house arrest!"

Prosecutor: "Your Honor, the state presents 4K video evidence showing the defendant intentionally tossing an infant into the air over a stone floor, alongside expert forensic proof of forged trust fund documents!"

The prosecutor hit a button, playing the foyer video on the large flat-screen displays mounted inside the courtroom.

Several jurors gasped loudly, holding their hands over their mouths as they watched Elena dive across the stone floor to save the falling baby.

Judge Davis: "That is quite enough. Turn off the video."

The judge adjusted his glasses, looking down at Nora with absolute condemnation.

Judge Davis: "Nora Sterling, your actions represent a level of calculated, cold-blooded cruelty that shocks the conscience of this entire community."

Nora: "Your Honor, please! It was a mistake! I was under so much pressure!"

Judge Davis: "Silence! You attempted to murder a defenceless baby to steal an inheritance left by his deceased mother!"

The judge raised his heavy wooden gavel, his voice echoing through the silent courtroom.

Judge Davis: "For the charge of attempted capital murder and felony financial fraud, I sentence you to thirty-five years in the Florida Department of Corrections without the possibility of parole."

The heavy wooden gavel slammed down with a resounding crack.

Nora: "NO! THIRTY-FIVE YEARS?! ARTHUR, HELP ME! PLEASE!"

Nora sobbed and thrashed wildly as two armed bailiffs grabbed her by her arms, dragging her through the side exit doors toward the holding cells below.

Arthur held Leo tightly, kissing his forehead as a feeling of deep peace finally washed over his heart.
