Arrest In The Foyer

He Stopped His Wife From Dropping His Son On Marble

Four Palm Beach police officers marched through the front double doors, their heavy boots thudding against the white marble floor.

Arthur walked down the grand staircase holding the security video tablet, with Elena and Leo following close behind him.

In the living room gateway, Nora was screaming at the security guards, her emerald gown creased and messy.

Nora: "Let go of me! You're just hired help! You have no right to hold me captive!"

Officer Miller: "Palm Beach Police! Step away from the guards, ma'am!"

Nora: "Officer! Thank goodness! My husband lost his mind and attacked me in my own home!"

Arthur: "She is lying, Officer. Here is the video footage from ten minutes ago."

Arthur handed the digital tablet directly to Officer Miller, who pressed play on the recording.

The three other officers gathered around the screen, their expressions turning from professional curiosity to utter disgust as they watched Nora throw the baby into the air.

Officer Miller: "Ma'am, did you drop this seven-month-old infant onto marble?"

Nora: "It was an accident! I lost my balance! You can't trust a cheap camera feed!"

Officer Miller: "Turn around and put your hands behind your back."

Nora: "WHAT?! You can't arrest me! I am Nora Sterling! My father is a major donor to the city council!"

Officer Miller: "I don't care who your father is. You are under arrest for attempted capital murder of a minor, child endangerment, and felony forgery."

The cold steel handcuffs clicked loudly as they snapped around Nora's wrists.

Nora shrieked in outrage, struggling against the officer's grip as her expensive dress rustled against his black uniform.

Nora: "Arthur! Tell them to stop! You can't let them drag me out of our mansion in chains!"

Arthur: "You brought this on yourself, Nora. You tried to kill my son for a trust fund."

Nora: "He's not even your real family! He's just a reminder of your dead wife!"

Arthur: "He is my entire world. And you are going to prison for a very long time."

The officers escorted Nora out through the grand double doors, her hysterical screaming echoing across the driveway as she was pushed into the back of a police cruiser.

The heavy doors shut, restoring silence to the bright, sunlit mansion foyer.
