Justice In The Sun

The officers pulled Evelyn out of the study, her furious screams echoing down the long marble hallway until the grand front doors slammed shut.

Silence finally returned to the bright, sunlit study.

Julian knelt down beside Chloe's wheelchair, taking her bruised, shaking hands into his own and kissing them gently.

Julian: I am so sorry, Chloe. I should never have left you alone in this house with her.

Chloe: You came back in time, Julian... that's all that matters.

Julian: I'm never leaving your side again. We're hiring a full new team of medical specialists today, and they will answer only to me.

Chloe: What about Hannah?

Julian stood up and looked at Hannah, who was quietly wiping down the spilled liquid on the carpet with a towel.

Julian: Hannah, stop wiping the floor. Stand up, please.

Hannah: Sir? Did I do something wrong?

Julian: You saved my wife's life today. You stood up to a cruel woman when everyone else was too afraid to speak.

Hannah: I couldn't just watch her hurt Mrs. Chloe, sir.

Julian: Starting today, you are no longer a house servant, Hannah. I am appointing you as Chloe's primary personal manager and head of household operations.

Hannah: Head of household operations?! But Mr. Julian, I'm just a maid...

Julian: You are a person of bravery and honor, Hannah. Your salary will be quadrupled, and you will have full authority over all staff in this mansion.

Chloe: Please say yes, Hannah. I need someone I can truly trust in this home.

Hannah: I... I don't know what to say! Yes! Thank you so much, Mr. Julian! Thank you, Mrs. Chloe!

Arthur: I will draft the new employment contract immediately, Julian. And I'll make sure the district attorney fast-tracks Evelyn's prosecution without bail.

Julian: Make sure she gets the maximum sentence for every single charge, Arthur.

Arthur: With pleasure, sir.
