The Coded Vault

Evelyn: You have no proof that I poisoned anyone! That cup on the floor was just tea!

Officer Davis: We brought a mobile crime lab unit, ma'am. They'll sample the carpet stain and the liquid in that cup within five minutes.

Hannah: Officer, there are three more bottles of those unlabelled liquid drugs hidden inside the bottom drawer of the desk!

Evelyn: You treacherous little snake!

Officer Davis walked over to the mahogany desk, pulling open the bottom drawer and lifting out three amber glass bottles filled with dark brown liquid.

Officer Davis: Unlabelled prescription drugs stored on private property. That's another violation right there.

Arthur: Also, Julian, we ran the emergency audit on your father's secondary accounts while you were in the air.

Julian: What did you find, Arthur?

Arthur: Evelyn transferred two point five million dollars out of the charity trust fund over the last forty-eight hours.

Evelyn: That was my legal allocation!

Arthur: Your legal allocation was capped at fifty thousand dollars a year, Evelyn. Moving two point five million to an offshore account in the Cayman Islands is grand larceny.

Julian: You were planning to leave the country, weren't you?

Evelyn: I was going on vacation! I deserve a vacation after dealing with this family!

Julian: You were going to drug my wife into a coma, steal her inheritance, and fly away before I returned from Europe.

Evelyn: You can't prove that!

Arthur: We don't need to prove it, Evelyn. The security camera inside the framed American flag decor recorded every single word you said in this study for the past three days.

Evelyn turned her head sharply toward the wall, staring at the framed flag hanging above the mahogany bookcase.

Evelyn: That camera was disconnected last year!

Julian: I reconnected it the day I hired Hannah to keep an eye on things while I was away. I never trusted you, Evelyn.

Officer Davis: Handcuff her, partner.

Evelyn: Get your hands off me! Do you know who I am?! I am Evelyn Sterling!

Officer Davis: You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.

The cold steel handcuffs clicked around Evelyn's wrists as she thrashed against the officer's grip, her polished green suit wrinkling in the struggle.

Evelyn: Julian! Tell them to stop! You owe your father's memory at least this much respect!

Julian: My father would be disgusted by what you did to Chloe. Take her away, Officer.
