Mark: Arthur, if Marcus files those forged stock transfer papers in Delaware, my board of directors could be locked out by Monday!
Arthur: We have the video evidence, Mark! They can't legally transfer stock obtained through a home burglary!
Mark: But if he sells those shares to an offshore investment group before we file an injunction, the financial damage will be catastrophic!
Arthur: Where would Marcus go to meet a buyer in Dallas?
Mark: The Plaza Hotel downtown. Marcus always uses the executive conference suites there for his shady deals!
Mark pulled out his phone and dialed Detective Miller directly on his emergency line.
Detective Miller: Detective Miller, Dallas PD.
Mark: Detective, this is Mark Vance. My estate was just burglarized, and I have high-definition video of the suspects stealing fifteen million dollars in corporate stock certificates!
Detective Miller: Fifteen million?! Who are the suspects, Mr. Vance?
Mark: My estranged cousin Marcus Vance and my former wife Evelyn! They are heading toward the Plaza Hotel right now!
Detective Miller: I am dispatching two detective units to the Plaza Hotel immediately. Send the video file to my secure portal right now!
Arthur: I am uploading the footage and audio files to your server as we speak, Detective!
Mark: Meet us at the Plaza Hotel in twenty minutes, Detective! I'm driving there right now!
Mark rushed back to the kitchen, taking Maya's hands into his own with a warm, comforting expression.
Mark: Maya, sweetie, Sam is going to stay here with you and play board games while Daddy takes care of some business downtown.
Maya: Are you going to get your papers back, Daddy?
Mark: I'm going to finish this once and for all, Maya. You stay safe with Sam, okay?
Maya: Okay, Daddy! Give Mr. Brown a high five before you go!
Mark smiled, giving the stuffed bear's paw a gentle squeeze before running out to his luxury SUV parked in the driveway.
Twenty minutes later, Mark and Arthur pulled up to the grand entrance of the Plaza Hotel in downtown Dallas.
Three unmarked police cruisers were already parked near the valet stand, their strobe lights flashing quietly behind blacked-out grills.
Detective Miller stepped out from the main lobby, waving Mark and Arthur toward the executive elevators.
Detective Miller: Mr. Vance, we located Marcus and Evelyn in Suite 402 on the fourth floor.
Mark: Did they meet with the offshore buyer yet?
Detective Miller: They are inside the suite right now with a foreign trade representative, attempting to sign the transfer agreement.
Mark: Let's stop them before that signature touches paper!
They rode the elevator to the fourth floor, stepping out onto the plush carpeted hallway.
Two armed officers stood on either side of Suite 402, waiting for Detective Miller's command.
Detective Miller swiped the hotel master key, kicking the heavy wooden door open with a loud thud.
Detective Miller: DALLAS POLICE! NOBODY MOVE!
