Davenport: You think you can intimidate me with empty threats? You're nothing!
Clara: We'll see about that when the security footage is played for the officers.
Davenport slowly pulled himself off the floor, dusting off his wet trousers while glaring at the crowd of onlookers who had pulled out their smartphones to record the scene.
Davenport: Put those phones away! If any video of me ends up online, my legal team will sue every single one of you for defamation!
Diner A: You screamed at a little girl! You deserve to be recorded!
Diner B: Yeah, she's just a child! You're a grown man acting like a monster!
Davenport: Mind your own business! None of you know how much that watch means to my firm's upcoming merger!
Clara: Your firm's merger? Is that why you're so frantic? You lost something important and you're taking your panic out on a helpless kid!
Davenport: I didn't lose it! She took it out of my jacket pocket when she bumped into me!
Clara: Lily, sweetie, look at me. Did you touch this man's jacket at any point tonight?
Lily: No, Mommy! I promise! I was only holding my bear. I didn't even see him until he started shouting at me!
Clara: I believe you, baby. Mommy believes you one hundred percent.
Davenport: Of course you take her side! Parents like you never take responsibility for raising criminals!
Clara: Do not speak about my parenting! You don't know the first thing about my family or my standards!
Manager: Everyone, please! Let's move this to the back manager's office! You're causing a disruption for the entire main dining room!
Clara: We are not going anywhere in private. Everything that happens next will happen right here in the open where everyone can see it.
Davenport: Fine by me! Let the whole room see the police put handcuffs on you and your daughter!
Lily: Mommy... are the police going to take us away? I'm scared!
Clara: Nobody is taking us anywhere, Lily. Look at me. Take a deep breath. You did nothing wrong, and I will protect you no matter what.
The heavy front glass doors of the restaurant swung open, and two uniformed police officers walked inside, their boots clicking firmly on the tile floor.
Officer Miller: Alright, what seems to be the problem here? We received a call about a physical altercation and a stolen item.
Davenport: Officer! Thank God you're here! I am Richard Davenport, senior managing partner at Davenport Financial!
Officer Miller: Sir, stay back for a moment. Who called the police?
Manager: I did, officer. This gentleman claims his expensive watch was stolen by the little girl, and the mother physically shoved him into our dining setup.
Officer Miller: Ma'am, is this true? Did you shove this man?
Clara: Yes, officer, I shoved him. Because I walked into the room and found a six-foot-tall man standing over my crying seven-year-old child, screaming in her face and threatening her!
Davenport: She stole my sixty-thousand-dollar diamond watch! I was demanding my legal property back!
Officer Miller: Let's take a breath, everyone. Ma'am, what is your name?
Clara: My name is Clara Vance. And I am requesting an immediate search of the premises and security review before anyone makes any more false allegations against my daughter.
