The video clearly showed Vanessa opening the front door for a man.
The man was wearing a dark suit and carried a small leather case.
They walked together into Mark's private office without turning on lights.
Mark watched as Vanessa used a override key to open the safe.
She pulled out the blue folder and handed it to the unknown man.
Mark felt a sharp pain of betrayal right in his center heart.
"You stole the mortgage records and the insurance policies," Mark said.
"I was doing it for us!" Vanessa cried out, taking a step closer.
"That man is a private investor who promised us double returns!" she claimed.
"You lied to me from the very day we met," Mark stated cold.
Leo stepped into the office and stood close to his father's side.
"Dad, she also put something in Grandma's tea yesterday," Leo whispered.
Vanessa's eyes grew massive with absolute terror at the boy's words.
"That is an absolute lie!" Vanessa screamed, stomping her expensive shoe.
"I gave her herbal chamomile tea to help her sleep soundly!" she yelled.
Mark grabbed his phone again and dialed the local police department.
"I need officers at my home immediately," Mark told the dispatcher.
"My wife has stolen legal documents and assaulted my elderly mother," he said.
Vanessa realized her time in the mansion was running out very fast.
She turned around and bolted down the hallway toward the rear exit.
Mark did not run after her because he knew the gates were locked.
He walked calmly to the front entrance and checked on the driveway.
Vanessa ran out the side door, heading straight for the tall iron gates.
She pounded her fists on the control panel, but nothing moved at all.
Mark had already locked the main gates from his personal smartphone app.
Vanessa turned back around, her hair messy and tears ruining her face.
Two police cruisers pulled up outside the gate with lights flashing bright.
Mark pressed the remote button to allow the police cars to enter.
The officers stepped out of their vehicles with serious expressions on faces.
"What is the emergency here, sir?" the lead officer asked Mark.
"My wife pushed my mother down the stairs to hide a theft," Mark said.
Vanessa fell to her knees on the manicured grass, weeping hysterically.
"It was all a mistake! Please don't do this!" Vanessa begged loudly.
The female officer stepped forward and placed handcuffs firmly on her wrists.
"You have the right to remain silent, ma'am," the officer said plainly.
Mark watched as they led his crying wife into the back seat.
He took a deep breath, feeling a giant weight lift away slightly.
Then his phone rang with an incoming call from the city hospital.
