Before Evelyn could say another word, the front heavy double doors swung open again.
Richard's wife, Clara, walked inside carrying several high-end shopping bags from town.
She stopped cold in her tracks when she saw the intense drama unfolding.
"What is going on in here?" Clara asked, looking between Richard and Evelyn.
"Why is everyone shouting, and why is the baby crying upstairs?"
Evelyn immediately ran toward Clara with a dramatic, distressed look on her face.
"Clara, thank goodness you are home!" Evelyn cried out, pretending to be hysterical.
"Richard has completely lost his mind! He is kicking me out for no reason!"
"I was just playing with the baby, and he accuses me of horrible things!"
Clara looked at her husband with confusion, seeking an immediate and honest answer.
Richard walked over to his wife and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Evelyn was holding Lily right over the balcony edge, Clara," Richard explained.
"Sarah caught her just in time before something terrible could happen to her."
Clara dropped her shopping bags onto the floor, her eyes wide with horror.
"What? Is Lily alright? Where is she now?" Clara asked rapidly.
"She is upstairs in her room with Sarah," Richard reassured her gently.
"She is completely safe and sound right now, so please do not worry."
Clara turned her attention back to Evelyn, her face full of sheer anger.
"How could you ever do such a wicked thing?" Clara demanded fiercely.
"We opened our home to you when you had nowhere else to turn!"
Evelyn backed away from Clara, feeling completely cornered by both of them now.
"It was an accident! Why does nobody believe me?" Evelyn whined loudly.
"Because you have been setting up security cameras in this house!" Clara revealed.
Richard looked at his wife in total surprise after hearing that shocking news.
"What do you mean, Clara?" Richard asked, turning his head quickly.
Clara pulled her mobile phone out of her purse and tapped the screen.
"I had new security cameras installed on the upper floor last single week."
"The footage feeds directly to my phone in real time high definition video."
Evelyn's jaw dropped open as her face lost every bit of its color.
Clara tapped the screen again and played the video recording from earlier today.
The video clearly showed Evelyn intentionally lifting the baby near the high banister.
It showed her looking around to see if anyone was watching her actions.
There was no slip, no loss of balance, and no accidental motion whatsoever.
It was a clear, deliberate act meant to terrorize and cause extreme panic.
Richard looked at the video screen, his heart breaking for his poor family.
"You lied to my face over and over again," Richard said quietly.
"Now we have total proof of what you really tried to do."
