The afternoon sun glared relentlessly against the towering double-paned glass windows of our luxury estate, illuminating the pristine white marble flooring of the grand foyer. High above on the second-story balcony, the atmosphere turned ice-cold as my mother-in-law, Eleanor, stood proudly in her dark green silk robe. In her hands, she held a tightly wrapped baby bundle containing my precious, helpless newborn son. Without a single word of warning, she tilted her hands forward right over the open edge, letting go of the fabric in one swift, unforgiving motion.
Clara: No! Oh God, please no!
I screamed out in sheer, agonizing terror, my voice shattering against the soaring vaulted ceilings of the mansion as a dramatic music swell filled the air.
Clara: Somebody grab him! Please, someone catch my baby!
Tears flooded my eyes instantly, blurring the horrifying descent of the tiny bundle as it sliced through the bright daylight.
Clara: He's falling! He's right over the marble floor!
My legs gave out beneath me, sending me crashing to my knees on the hallway rug as panic consumed my entire soul.
Clara: Dear Lord, save my son! Please don't let him hit the stone!
I clawed frantically at the fabric of my clothes, my heart hammering like a trapped bird against my ribs.
Eleanor: That bastard child has no right to inherit a single dime of this estate!
Eleanor shouted down from the landing, her voice dripping with venom and elitist fury as she watched the baby drop.
Clara: He's just an innocent newborn! How could you do this to your own flesh and blood?!
I shrieked back, dragging myself forward on my hands and knees in a desperate bid to reach the impact zone.
Clara: Stop her! Somebody stop this madwoman before it's too late!
The wrapped bundle accelerated through the air, the atmospheric wind swoosh roaring loudly as the terrifying seconds ticked down to a catastrophic end. Will anyone reach him in time, or is my baby's life about to be extinguished by pure corporate greed?
