David arrived at the hospital twenty minutes later with thick files.
He walked into the room silently and hugged his brother Mark.
David: I am so sorry this happened to you, Ellen.
Ellen: Thank you for coming so quickly, David.
Mark: Show me the documents Uncle Robert gave to Sarah.
David placed a thick binder of financial records on the table.
David: Robert forged Ellen's signature on these withdrawal slips.
Mark: He tried to frame my wife for grand larceny!
David: He took over two hundred thousand dollars last month.
Ellen stared at the forged papers with complete shock and horror.
Ellen: I have never even visited that bank branch before!
Mark: My lawyer is already filing a lawsuit against Robert.
David: The police are raiding Robert's office downtown right now.
Mark: Good, he deserves to spend his life behind bars.
David: Sarah is sitting in a county jail cell right now.
Mark: She can stay there until her trial starts next month.
Ellen: Mark, she is still your sister despite her actions.
Mark: She put your life and our child's life in danger.
Mark: I will never forgive her for laying hands on you.
The door opened and two detectives walked into the room.
Detective: Mr. Davis, we need your statement regarding the break-in.
Mark: I will give you every detail you need right now.
Mark walked out into the hallway with the lead detective.
He described the entire argument and the fall on the rug.
Detective: We found security footage from your neighbor's porch camera.
Mark: Does it show Sarah forcing her way inside?
Detective: It clearly shows her screaming and pushing through your door.
Mark: Use that footage to make sure she stays locked up.
Detective: We also found Uncle Robert at the airport with cash.
Mark: Did you arrest him before he could leave?
Detective: He is currently in handcuffs at central police station.
Mark felt a cold sense of justice wash over his heart.
The family snake had finally been caught in his own trap.
He returned to Ellen's bedside and held her small hand.
Mark: Robert was caught at the airport trying to flee.
Ellen: Thank goodness the police stopped him in time.
Mark: Now we can finally focus on taking care of you.
