Uncovering The Lost Will

The Unconscious Billionaire Saved By A Girl Holding A Photo

David Vance ran across the grand foyer, dropping down beside little Lily to make sure the frightened child was completely unhurt from the fight. He wrapped his warm wool coat around her small shoulders while two police officers secured the two injured bodyguards on the side floor.

David: Arthur, are you completely alright? We saw the poison report!

Arthur: I am alive because of my sister's little daughter.

Arthur walked slowly over to Kent's expensive leather briefcase, which was sitting unlocked on a small wooden side table near the front entrance doors. He flipped open the silver latches and dumped the heavy paper contents directly onto the middle of the marble floor for everyone to inspect.

Thick yellow folders, hidden bank records, and sealed legal envelopes spilled across the floor, covered in dark red stamps that marked them as private files. David dropped to his knees and began sifting through the dense stack of legal documents with fast trained eyes under the bright lights.

David: Good lord, Arthur... look at these original court stamps!

Arthur: What did he hide from me all these years?

David pulled out a thick yellowed document signed by Arthur's late father fifteen years ago, carrying an official court seal from the city probate judge. The document was an original last will and testament that explicitly left fifty percent of the entire family trust fund to Sarah and her children.

David: Kent forged your father's signature on the second will.

Kent: That old man was completely out of his mind!

David: He diverted three million dollars a year into offshore accounts!

Arthur turned around slowly and walked over to Kent, who was being held firmly by two heavy police officers near the main double doors. Arthur looked deep into his cousin's eyes, feeling no anger anymore, only deep sadness for the wasted years and broken family ties.

Arthur: You made me believe my own sister abandoned me for money.

Kent: She was going to give it all to charity!

Arthur: She was using it to build children's hospitals, Kent!

The lead police captain picked up a small black recording device from inside the open briefcase and pressed the small play button on the side top edge. A sharp voice echoed through the high foyer room, clearly capturing Kent discussing the plan to poison Arthur's evening tea with a rare paralyzing agent.

Captain: Mister Sterling, you are under arrest for attempted murder and fraud.

Kent: You cannot do this to me! I own this company!

Captain: Take him out to the police car right now, boys.

Kent screamed obscenities as the officers dragged him out through the massive front doors into the rainy night, his loud voice fading away down the long driveway. The foyer became completely quiet again, leaving Arthur standing in the middle of his huge home surrounded by police officers and legal files.

Lily stepped out from behind the stone pillar and walked slowly over to Arthur, holding her small red dress skirt away from the sharp broken glass on the floor. She reached up and placed her tiny hand inside Arthur's large hand, looking up at him with clear trusting green eyes.

Lily: Is the mean man gone away forever now, Uncle Arthur?

Arthur: Yes little one, he will never hurt us ever again.
