Evelyn: Marcus... please... turn off those cameras. We can solve this inside the family!
Marcus: You tried to kill my pregnant wife and my unborn child, Evelyn. We aren't a family anymore.
Evelyn: I didn't mean to hurt the baby! I was just so angry!
Marcus: Angry about what?! What could possibly make you act like a savage?!
Evelyn: About the trust fund documents your lawyer sent me this morning!
Marcus narrowed his eyes as he stood over his mother, his wet tuxedo clinging to his chest.
Marcus: What trust fund documents?
Evelyn: David sent me a notice saying you're transferring ownership of the Dallas estate and the family holding company to Clara!
Clara: Marcus... what is she talking about?
Marcus: I didn't transfer ownership to Clara, Evelyn. I put the entire inheritance into a legal trust for my children!
Evelyn: That trust belonged to your father! He meant for me to control it until I die!
Marcus: Dad's will explicitly stated that you received a monthly allowance of twenty thousand dollars, and the principal estate passed to my kids when I turned thirty-five!
Evelyn: Twenty thousand dollars a month is nothing! My country club fees and luxury car leases cost more than that!
Marcus: So you attacked Clara because you thought taking her out of the picture would keep the money in your hands?!
Evelyn: If she wasn't here, you would rely on me again! You would give me control of the board like you used to!
Sarah: That woman is heartless, Mr. Vance. She was talking on the phone yesterday about selling the estate if she got her hands on it.
Evelyn: Shut up, maid!
Marcus: Is that true, Sarah?
Sarah: Yes, sir. She told her real estate broker that as soon as she removed Clara from the house, she would force you to sign over the deed.
Clara: You tried to destroy our lives... just for money?
Evelyn: It's my family's legacy, Clara! You came from a middle-class family with nothing to your name!
Evelyn: You don't deserve millions of dollars! You don't deserve this mansion!
Marcus: Clara married me when I was running a failing startup, long before Dad passed away!
Marcus: She worked two jobs to support us while I rebuilt the business! She never cared about the money!
Evelyn: That's what she wanted you to think!
Marcus: She signed a prenuptial agreement voluntarily three days before our wedding, Evelyn!
Evelyn froze, her eyes blinking rapidly in confusion.
Evelyn: A pre-nup? She signed a pre-nup?
Marcus: Yes! She waived all rights to my family inheritance! If we ever divorced, she would leave with nothing!
Marcus: She didn't want Dad's money, Evelyn. You were fighting a phantom because your own mind is so poisoned by greed!
The heavy iron gates at the entrance of the courtyard swung open, and two uniformed Dallas police officers walked out onto the patio alongside two paramedics carrying medical bags.
Officer Henderson: Everyone stay where you are! Who called emergency services?
Marcus: I did, Officer. My mother just pushed my pregnant wife into the deep end of the pool.
