The Urgent Call

The Rich Dallas Stepmother Pushed Her Over The Stairs

Mark tapped the screen with trembling fingers as he dialed the emergency digits.

He held the phone tight to his ear while cradling Sarah gently.

Mark: Please answer, pick up right now!

Operator: 911 emergency, what is your location?

Mark: Send an ambulance and police officers to the Dallas estate right now!

Operator: Sir, stay calm, what happened there?

Mark: My pregnant daughter was pushed down our main staircase!

Operator: Help is on the way right now, sir.

Mark lowered the phone and looked up at the top landing of the stairs.

Evelyn was slowly backing away toward the upper dark master bedroom hallway.

Mark: Evelyn, do not you dare walk away from this!

Evelyn: Mark, it was a terrible accident, I swear!

Mark: I saw you push her with my own two eyes!

Evelyn: She tripped over her own shoes, Mark!

Mark: Stop lying! You tried to hurt my daughter and grandchild!

Sarah sobbed loudly as Mark held her head close against his suit jacket.

The soft sound of distant sirens began to echo down the long street outside.

The emergency vehicles were driving fast toward the large private Dallas estate gates.

Mark looked into Sarah's tear-filled eyes and kissed her cold forehead gently.

Mark: The doctors are almost here, Sarah.

Sarah: I was so scared, dad.

Mark: You are safe with me now, I promise.

Sarah: Why does she hate me so much?

Mark: She only cares about money, but she is finished now.

The front double doors burst open wide as paramedics rushed straight inside.

Two medical workers ran toward Sarah with a soft transport stretcher ready.

They carefully checked her vitals while Mark held her trembling hand tight.

The primary paramedic looked up at Mark with a quick reassuring nod.

Paramedic: Her heart rate is stable and the baby seems safe.

Mark: Thank God! Please take her to the hospital right now.

Paramedic: We will take great care of her, sir.

They placed Sarah on the stretcher and rolled her out to the ambulance.

Mark stood up from the hard floor with anger burning inside his heart.
