A New Will Written

The Muddy Boy Who Stopped A Funeral In Time

Three months later the afternoon sun shone brightly through the tall windows of the Miller mansion.

The grand living room was filled with green plants and fresh flowers from the outdoor garden.

George sat at his massive dark mahogany desk wearing a light grey wool sweater.

His elder brother Arthur sat nearby in a comfortable leather chair reading the morning newspaper.

A city judge had sentenced Victoria and her corrupt doctor to twenty years in state prison.

All of her legal claims to the estate and money had been stripped away by the court.

A tall family lawyer placed three thick white paper documents onto the polished wood desk surface.

Lawyer: Everything is prepared according to your exact instructions, Mister George.

George: Thank you, David. Read the final summary clause aloud for everyone present.

Lawyer: The entire estate including the mansion and trust fund will be placed into a trust.

Lawyer: The sole beneficiary upon adulthood shall be young Leo Miller, legally adopted son.

Leo was sitting on the rug playing with a shiny new toy train under the bright window light.

He stopped moving his hands and looked up at George with wide brown eyes in total surprise.

Leo: Adopted son? You are taking me into your real family, Mister George?

George: You saved my life when no one else listened to a single word you said.

George: From this day on, this house is your house and you will never be alone again.

Tears of pure happiness welled up in Arthur's eyes as he smiled at his younger brother.

Arthur: You are doing the right thing, George. Our family has a real future now.

Leo stood up from the floor and ran straight toward the desk with a huge warm smile.

George stood up from his chair and lifted the boy high into his strong arms with joy.

Leo: Thank you, Dad! I will take care of you and this home forever!

George: I know you will, son. I know you will.
