Eviction Turned Around

The Millionaire Evicted His Wife Until Her Real Estate Deed Appeared

The sound of heavy tires crunching over wet gravel echoed from the driveway outside.

Vanessa: Who is that? Did you call the police on us?!

Karen: That is the moving crew I booked five hours ago.

Richard: A moving crew? For what? Your boxes are already packed right here!

Karen: Those boxes are for your clothes, Richard. And whatever cheap synthetic dresses Vanessa brought into my walk-in closet.

Richard: I am not leaving my master bedroom tonight! This is an outrage!

The front door opened again, revealing two uniformed county sheriffs alongside Officer Davis.

Sheriff Higgins: Good evening. Mr. Richard Vance?

Richard: Sheriff Higgins! Thank God you're here! My wife is attempting an illegal takeover of my primary residence!

Sheriff Higgins: Actually, Mr. Vance, I am here to serve an emergency writ of exclusive property occupancy issued by Judge Thornton an hour ago.

Vanessa: A judge signed an order at night?! That's illegal!

Sheriff Higgins: An emergency ex-parte hearing was held regarding property fraud and asset dissipation, ma'am. Mr. Vance, you and your guest have twenty minutes to vacate the premises.

Richard: Judge Thornton was a personal friend of my late father-in-law! This is blatant cronyism!

Sheriff Higgins: That is an issue for your appeals attorney, sir. Right now, my duty is to ensure Mrs. Vance retains sole possession of this estate without disturbance.

Karen: You can take your three sports cars from the lower garage, Richard. The title liens haven't cleared yet, so they are technically still in your name.

Richard: You calculated every single move. Every single minute.

Karen: You taught me how to operate in a high-stakes environment, Richard. Did you really think I learned nothing during twenty years of watching you step on everyone who trusted you?

Vanessa: Richard, where are we supposed to sleep tonight?! It's pouring rain and the downtown hotels are booked for the tech conference!

Richard: Get your coat, Vanessa! Stop screaming!

Vanessa: Don't yell at me! You told me she was powerless! You told me she had no family left to defend her!

Karen: My family left me their integrity, Vanessa. And their real estate deeds.

Sheriff Higgins: Time is moving, Mr. Vance. Please place your house keys on the foyer console table.

Richard stood motionless, his jaw clenching so hard a muscle twitched beneath his cheek.

Richard: This isn't the end of this, Karen. When my forensic lawyers counter-sue, you will end up with nothing but the clothes on your back.

Karen: Save your rehearsed speeches for the grand jury, Richard. They will have much more time to listen to your excuses.

With trembling hands, Richard reached into his pocket and dropped the brass electronic key fobs onto the marble table.

Richard: Come on, Vanessa.

Vanessa: Can't I at least grab my fur coat from the closet upstairs?!

Karen: That coat was purchased on my corporate credit card line, Vanessa. Leave it where it hangs.

Vanessa gasped in sheer humiliation, bursting into furious tears as she pulled her flimsy shawl tightly over her bare shoulders.

Vanessa: You will rot in hell for this!

Karen: Perhaps. But tonight, I am sleeping in my own bed, dry and warm.
