Locks Changed In The Storm

The Millionaire Evicted His Wife Until Her Real Estate Deed Appeared

The wind rattled the large entryway windows as thunder rumbled low over the valley.

Richard: Stop bluffing and get off my property before I have the guard take you down to the station.

Karen: Call him. Go ahead, Richard. Pick up that phone and call Chief Miller right now.

Vanessa: Richard, just call the guards already! She is dripping dirty rainwater all over the imported rug!

Richard: Officer Davis! Get in here immediately!

The heavy mahogany front door swung inward, letting in a gust of frigid air along with an armed private security guard.

Officer Davis: Yes, Mr. Vance? Is there a problem?

Richard: Escort this woman off the grounds. She is trespassing on private residential property.

Officer Davis: Mrs. Vance? Ma'am, are you alright?

Karen: I am perfectly fine, Officer Davis. But before you touch my arm, you need to examine this county document.

Vanessa: Don't look at her stupid papers! She is an intruder! Kick her out into the rain!

Richard: You work for the security firm I pay fifty thousand dollars a month to retain, Davis. Obey my order.

Officer Davis: Sir, if a resident presents a title dispute or property order, protocol requires me to verify it before executing a physical eviction.

Richard: This is my mansion! My name is on the front gate pillar!

Karen: Read the official county registrar seal at the top, Officer Davis. Tell my husband whose name appears on line one.

The guard adjusted his flashlight, squinting down at the stamped embossed parchment in the leather folder.

Officer Davis: This is a certified municipal land grant and property deed from twenty-five years ago.

Vanessa: Who cares about twenty-five years ago? Richard is the billionaire CEO of Vance Logistics!

Officer Davis: Mr. Vance... this parcel wasn't purchased by your corporation. It was deeded directly from the Sterling Family Trust.

Richard: That trust expired when Karen's father passed away! I absorbed those holdings during our corporate merger!

Karen: My father never transferred the ground lease to your holding firm, Richard. He knew exactly what kind of greedy man you were.

Vanessa: Richard, tell him she's lying! This house is ours!

Richard: Give me that paper, Davis! Give it to me right now!

Richard snatched the folder, his manicured hands shaking as his eyes scanned down the legal clauses.

Karen: Read clause fourteen out loud for Vanessa. Don't be shy, darling.

Richard: This is impossible. The corporate estate lawyers reviewed every single page during the restructuring audit.

Karen: Your lawyers reviewed the building structure, not the underlying soil. The house sits on ancestral land owned entirely by my private LLC.

Vanessa: What does that mean? What is she talking about, Richard?!

Richard: Shut up for a second, Vanessa! Let me think!

Karen: It means, Officer Davis, that every person currently standing inside this foyer is an unauthorized guest on my private property.

Officer Davis: Mr. Vance, based on this certified county registry, Mrs. Vance is the legal titled owner of the ground plot.

Richard: I paid for the foundation! I spent twelve million dollars building this structure with my own executive bonuses!

Karen: And you built it on ground you never owned or leased. Which means, legally, every single brick belongs to me.

Vanessa: No! That can't be true! You promised me this house, Richard!

Karen: Pack your designer bags, Vanessa. Your forty-five minutes start right now.
