David walked out onto the patio carrying a tray with two fresh glasses of iced tea. He set the tray down on the outdoor table and walked over to sit beside Elena.
David: He's getting so fast, Elena. I think he's going to be walking by next month.
Elena: He's strong, Mr. Vance. Just like his father.
David: Please, Elena... how many times do I have to tell you? Call me David. You aren't just an employee here anymore. You saved my son's life.
Elena smiled softly, tucking a strand of dark hair behind her ear as she watched Leo play with a plush toy on the grass.
Elena: David... I was actually meaning to talk to you about something.
David: What is it? Is everything alright?
Elena: The contract for my nanny agency ends next week. I wanted to ask if you'd consider making my position permanent... as the head administrator for the new Vance Children's Foundation.
David looked at her with genuine warmth and gratitude, reaching out to gently place his hand over hers.
David: Elena, you don't even need to ask. That job has been yours since the day you stood up to a gun in that nursery to protect my son.
Elena: Thank you, David. I love this little boy with all my heart.
David: And he loves you too. We both do.
Leo let out a joyful giggle as he crawled over to David's shoes, pulling himself up using his father's pant leg. David leaned down and scooped his son into his arms, pulling him close for a warm hug.
