Arrested In Silk

Within ten minutes, the sharp wails of emergency sirens echoed down the long private estate road. Red and blue lights flashed through the sheer curtains of the nursery windows, illuminating the dark oak floorboards.

Four uniformed police officers and two paramedics rushed up the grand staircase, entering the nursery with emergency kits and equipment.

Officer Miller: Mr. Vance? We received a call regarding an infant poisoning!

David: Over here, officer. My son needs to be examined immediately. He was given sedatives in his milk.

The paramedics quickly approached Elena, gently taking the swaddled baby to check his vital signs and oxygen levels.

Paramedic: His heart rate is stabilization, but his oxygen is slightly low. We need to take him to the pediatric intensive care unit right away for toxicology treatment.

David: Go with them, Elena. Stay by his side until I get to the hospital.

Elena: I will, Mr. Vance. I won't leave him for a second.

Elena carefully walked out of the room alongside the paramedics, holding the infant securely as they rushed down the hallway.

Officer Miller: Sir, who is responsible for administering the substance?

David: That woman sitting in the chair. My mother, Victoria Vance.

Victoria: Officer, this is a massive family misunderstanding! My son is mentally unstable after losing his wife! He is delusional!

Officer Miller: Ma'am, please stand up slowly.

David: Here is the video evidence, officer. It shows her crushing prescription sleeping pills directly into the baby's bottle yesterday afternoon.

Officer Miller took David's phone, watching the clear security footage for thirty seconds. His jaw hardened as he looked back at Victoria.

Officer Miller: Hands behind your back, ma'am. You are under arrest for attempted murder, child endangerment, and poisoning.

Victoria: Get your filthy hands off me! Do you know who I am?! I am Victoria Vance! I donate millions to your department every year!

Officer Miller: Your money won't save you from a video recording, ma'am. Click them on, Johnson.

The second officer stepped forward, roughly pulling Victoria's arms behind her back and clicking heavy steel handcuffs around her wrists. Victoria thrashed violently in her silk dress, her diamond bracelets clinking against the cold metal restraints.

Victoria: David! Tell them to stop! You can't let them take me to jail! What will the neighbors say?!

David: Let them say whatever they want. You are going to prison for what you did to my boy.

Victoria: You ungrateful brat! I hope you rot in this house alone!

The officers dragged Victoria out of the nursery, her hysterical screams echoing down the marble corridors of the mansion until the heavy front doors finally slammed shut behind them.
