Within twenty minutes, the sound of police sirens echoed down the driveway.
Two officers entered the grand mansion foyer through the open doors.
David explained the entire situation clearly to the listening officers.
Sarah came back downstairs, holding the safe baby tightly in her arms.
She gave her full official statement to the police officers on duty.
She pointed out the exact spot where the baby had almost fallen.
The officers looked at Victoria with strict, stern expressions on their faces.
"Victoria Vance, you are under arrest for endangerment," the officer said.
They placed metal handcuffs tightly around Victoria's soft wrists.
Victoria began to weep loudly, realized her luxury life was completely over.
"David, please don't do this to me!" Victoria screamed wildly.
David turned his back on her, refusing to look at her face.
"Get out of this house forever!" David shouted at her with fury.
The police led the crying woman out through the heavy double doors.
The mansion became completely silent once again after the doors shut.
David walked over to Sarah and his sweet little baby boy.
He looked at Sarah with tears welling up in his brown eyes.
"You saved my son's life today, Sarah," David said softly.
"I just did what any decent person would do," Sarah replied quietly.
"You are much more than a housekeeper to us now," David said.
"You are family, and you will always have a place here," he added.
Sarah smiled gently as little Leo reached out for his father's hand.
Justice had been served, and the sweet innocent baby was finally safe.
