At that exact moment, the heavy double front doors were pushed open wide.
David Vance walked into the bright foyer, holding his leather briefcase.
He stopped dead in his tracks when he heard the loud crying.
He saw Sarah standing near the bottom of the grand stairs in tears.
"What is going on here?" David asked, looking completely confused.
Sarah rushed over to David, holding the crying infant out to him.
David immediately wrapped his arms around his son, comforting him softly.
"Sir, you have to help us," Sarah cried out desperately.
"Why is Leo crying like this, Sarah?" David demanded firmly.
Sarah pointed an accusing finger straight up at the high balcony.
"You monster, how could you do that to a baby?" Sarah screamed at Victoria.
David looked up quickly and saw his wife coming down the stairs.
Victoria was trembling, trying to pull herself together as fast as possible.
"David, darling, it was just a terrible accident!" Victoria gasped softly.
"An accident?" Sarah repeated, her voice full of pure anger.
"She held him over the railing on purpose!" Sarah told David.
"That is a complete lie!" Victoria shouted, her cheeks turning bright red.
"I was just holding him near the light!" Victoria added quickly.
"She lost her grip on him, sir!" Sarah insisted to David.
"If I had not run to catch him, he would be gone!" Sarah said.
David looked down at his baby boy, then looked back at Victoria.
His face grew pale as the terrible reality set in his mind.
"Is this true, Victoria?" David asked, his voice shaking with anger.
"No, David! You cannot trust a simple maid over your wife!" Victoria sobbed.
"She is trying to ruin our family because she hates me!" Victoria claimed.
David looked at the trembling housekeeper with serious, intense eyes.
He had known Sarah for years, and she was always completely honest.
