The sun broke through the thick grey clouds late that afternoon.
Warm yellow light filled the grand foyer of the Sterling mansion.
Arthur sat on the velvet sofa in the main living room area.
He held a cup of hot tea while Lily played happily nearby.
The terrible dark cloud over their home had finally been lifted.
Victoria walked into the room carrying a silver tray with fresh cookies.
Arthur stood up immediately and motioned for her to sit down.
Arthur: Victoria, please take a seat next to us today.
Victoria: Thank you, Mr. Sterling, but I must finish my work.
Arthur: You are no longer just a maid in this house.
Victoria: What do you mean by that, sir?
Arthur: You saved my daughter's life and protected our family truth.
Arthur pulled a legal contract out of his leather suit jacket.
He had called his family lawyer immediately after the arrest occurred.
He appointed Victoria as the official head manager of the entire estate.
He also set up a trust fund to ensure her family was taken care of forever.
Arthur: You will stay here as Lily's guardian whenever I travel for work.
Lily: Please stay with us forever, Victoria!
Victoria: It would be my greatest honor to stay and care for you.
Victoria wiped a small happy tear from the side of her eye.
The cold house finally felt like a warm and real home again.
Justice had been served, and truth had won over wicked greed.
