Victoria cradled the crying young girl against her white cotton apron.
She turned her head upward to confront the cruel woman in purple.
Victoria: Don't you ever lay a hand on this child again!
Evelyn: Know your place, you worthless housemaid!
Victoria: I know who you really are, Evelyn!
Evelyn: You are fired as of this very second!
Victoria: You cannot fire me for protecting Arthur's real daughter!
Evelyn walked down two steps with a look of pure hatred.
She tried to grab the brown envelope that was peeking from Victoria's pocket.
Victoria had secretly gathered the real medical tests three days ago.
She knew that Evelyn had paid money to tamper with the records.
Victoria held Lily closely with one arm and pulled out the truth.
Evelyn: Give those papers to me right now!
Victoria: These documents prove your entire criminal lie!
Evelyn: Nobody will ever believe the words of a maid!
Lily sobbed softly into Victoria's shoulder as the argument grew louder.
The loud shouting echoed off the high ceiling of the empty foyer.
Evelyn reached out to push Victoria out of her way forcefully.
Victoria stood her ground firmly and blocked the step with her body.
She refused to let the greedy stepmother harm the defenseless girl.
Just as Evelyn raised her arm again, heavy heavy footsteps sounded outside.
The massive wooden double doors of the mansion suddenly burst wide open.
The cold rain wind blew into the grand hallway with full force.
Arthur Sterling stepped inside the foyer with two uniform police officers.
He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw the chaos.
