Elena stopped on the bottom step of the massive marble staircase.
She pointed her finger directly at the weeping maid who held the infant.
Elena: I was adjusting the safety strap because the clip snapped!
Sarah: That is not true at all, sir!
Sarah: She stepped back and deliberately tilted the basket off the side!
Marcus stepped between the two women with his heavy fists clenching hard.
He looked down at his crying infant son inside the padded carrier.
The baby was shaking from the sudden fall onto the floor tiles.
Marcus felt a sharp wave of anger wash over his entire body.
Marcus: Shut up, Elena!
Elena: Marcus, look at me and tell me you trust your wife!
Marcus: I see my innocent child shivering on the hard floor!
Marcus: You never wanted this family or this quiet house!
Elena: Sarah set this entire trap up to frame me today!
Sarah took two steps back and hid her face behind her hands.
Sarah: Why would I ever invent such a horrible lie about you?
Marcus: Get out of my sight right now!
Elena: You cannot throw me out into the street like trash!
Marcus pointed his trembling finger straight toward the large double front doors.
Marcus: Get out of my house right now and leave my son!
Elena: You are making the biggest mistake of your whole life!
Marcus grabbed her leather purse and threw it onto the drive outside.
The massive wooden doors slammed shut with a deep echoing boom.
Elena stood alone on the wet driveway under the cold gray sky.
