The heavy front doors of the luxury mansion shut tight with a loud echo.
Doctor Evans backed away slowly from the two tall security guards near the entrance.
Marcus pulled out his silk handkerchief and wiped his forehead in quick motions.
Marcus: Richard, this is completely insane behavior for a family gathering.
Richard: My health has gotten worse every single day since you brought this man here.
Richard: I used to walk with a cane, and now I cannot even feel my toes.
Doctor Evans: Nerve degeneration is a unpredictable process, Mr. Miller!
Richard: Arthur, come here right now.
Arthur, the head security chief of the estate, stepped forward with a radio.
Arthur: Yes, Mr. Miller?
Richard: Take this white pill directly to the private lab down the street.
Richard: I want a full chemical analysis completed within the next hour.
Marcus stepped in front of Arthur to block him from taking the tiny white object.
Marcus: You cannot do that, Richard!
Marcus: That is illegal interference with professional medical treatment!
Richard: This is my home, my body, and my company, Marcus!
Richard handed the white pill directly to Arthur with a very steady hand.
Arthur nodded respectfully, put the pill in a clear plastic bag, and left.
Doctor Evans looked around the bright white room like a trapped animal in a cage.
Doctor Evans: I am leaving right now, and you can find another doctor.
Arthur: You are not going anywhere until the local police arrive, sir.
Lily sat back down on the floor right near her father's wheelchair legs.
She picked up her little towel and gently dried her father's wet feet.
Lily: Daddy, will you walk again when the bad man goes away?
Richard: I promise you I will try with everything I have left, Lily.
Marcus paced back and forth across the shiny marble floor in visible panic.
He looked at his expensive gold watch every few seconds as silence filled the hall.
The invited guests pulled back against the far walls near the giant American flag.
Nobody dared to leave the room while the tense family confrontation played out.
Thirty minutes passed before the front heavy doors opened once again with a click.
Arthur walked back into the hall holding an official white paper report in his hand.
Arthur: Mr. Miller, the lab director sent this result over immediately by runner.
Richard: Read it out loud for everyone in this room to hear, Arthur.
Arthur opened the crisp white paper and cleared his throat in front of everyone.
Arthur: The white tablet contains a heavy muscular paralyzing agent banned five years ago.
Arthur: Long-term use causes permanent leg paralysis without killing the subject.
A collective gasp rose up from all the guests inside the large mansion hall.
Richard turned his head slowly toward his younger brother with absolute fury in his eyes.
