The grand ballroom sparkled brightly under the giant crystal chandeliers.
Every rich guest in town walked across the polished marble floor.
Arthur Vance stood near the center of the room with a warm smile.
He was celebrating forty successful years of building his family business.
His oldest son Marcus stepped over with two glasses of fresh champagne.
Marcus always worked hard to make his aging father very proud.
He spent years learning every detail of the family company network.
Arthur took a glass and patted Marcus gently on the shoulder.
"You have been my loyal right hand for so long," Arthur said softly.
Marcus smiled warmly because he truly loved his kind father.
Suddenly the heavy double doors of the hall swung wide open.
Arthur's second wife Victoria walked into the room with sharp authority.
She wore a dark designer dress that made everyone look away in silence.
Victoria always wanted full control over the massive family inheritance.
She carried a heavy leather folder tightly against her sleek ribs.
Marcus narrowed his eyes as he watched her cross the bright floor.
"Why did you bring legal files to a family celebration?" Marcus asked.
Victoria gave a dark cold smile and shrugged her shoulders lightly.
"Because today marks the end of your time here," Victoria replied coldly.
Arthur looked confused as he set his champagne glass down gently.
"What are you talking about my dear wife?" Arthur asked quietly.
Victoria opened the black folder and pulled out thick legal contracts.
"I have officially taken over every asset in this house," she said.
The surrounding crowd gasped loudly at her sudden harsh words.
Marcus stepped forward quickly to defend his shocked old father.
"That is completely impossible because Dad never signed those papers," Marcus insisted.
Victoria glared at him with pure hatred inside her cold eyes.
"He signed them this morning right before the party started," she sneered.
Arthur shook his head in complete disbelief as his hands trembled.
"I never signed any mortgage or property transfer today," Arthur whispered.
The music stopped completely as the entire room fell dead silent.
