Outside the grand glass entrance of the Sterling mansion, the red and blue flashing lights of three police cruisers illuminated the white marble pillars. The heavy front doors swung open, and four uniformed police officers marched into the foyer, led by Police Chief Harris in a dark blue uniform.
Chief Harris: Marcus! We got your priority call on the private line. What happened here?
Marcus: Chief Harris, thank you for coming so quickly. My fiancée, Victoria, physically assaulted my daughter Maya and forged my digital signature on state estate documents.
Victoria: Chief Harris, this is a family misunderstanding! Marcus had an emotional reaction because his daughter doesn't like me!
Chief Harris: Victoria, keep your voice down while I speak to the homeowner.
Maya: Look at the video on the television screen, Chief Harris. It shows everything she did.
Chief Harris walked into the living room, stepping up to the large screen above the fireplace. He watched the high-definition footage of Victoria pouring the red wine over Maya's head, his face growing dark with anger as he listened to the recorded audio.
Chief Harris: This is clear evidence of third-degree domestic assault and harassment on a minor heir.
Victoria: She isn't a minor! She's nineteen years old!
Chief Harris: Age doesn't give you the right to pour liquid over someone's head and lie to the police, ma'am.
Vance: Chief Harris, I want it on official record that I was completely unaware of Mrs. Victoria's illegal actions when I entered this house tonight!
Marcus: Hand over your red briefcase to the officers, Vance. Let's see what documents you have inside.
Vance: These are private attorney-client privileged materials!
Chief Harris: Officer Davis, inspect the attorney's briefcase under the emergency fraud warrant.
Officer Davis stepped forward, taking the red briefcase from Vance's hands and opening it on the mahogany coffee table. Inside lay three stamped legal folders containing Maya's forged trust fund documents, along with a cashier's check for fifty thousand dollars written from Victoria's private account.
Officer Davis: Chief, these documents have Mr. Marcus Sterling's digital signature stamp attached, but the notary seal was applied six hours ago while Mr. Sterling was on an international flight.
Chief Harris: That's direct proof of forgery and bank fraud, Vance. You're coming down to the station with us too.
Vance: What? You can't arrest me! I'm a licensed officer of the court!
Chief Harris: You're a suspect in an estate fraud conspiracy, Mr. Vance. Hand over your phone and step over to the wall.
Victoria's body began to shake with panic as she realized her elaborate scheme was crumbling in front of the entire household staff. She lunged forward, reaching into her white silk robe pocket to grab her phone, but Officer Miller intercepted her instantly, grabbing her wrist.
Officer Miller: Keep your hands where we can see them, ma'am!
Victoria: Get your hands off me! Marcus, tell them to stop! We can make a deal! I'll give back the trust papers!
Marcus: You don't have anything to give back, Victoria. Those papers were never yours in the first place.
Victoria: I gave you two years of my life! I deserve half of this estate!
Maya: You gave my father lies, Victoria. And you gave me cruelty every single day he was away.
Chief Harris: Victoria Sterling, you are under arrest for domestic assault, grand forgery, criminal fraud, and destruction of legal records.
The cold steel handcuffs clicked firmly around Victoria's wrists behind her back. She thrashed against the officer's grip, her silk robe slipping down her shoulders as she was turned toward the foyer.
Victoria: Marcus! Don't do this to me! Think about our wedding! Think about what the press will say tomorrow!
Marcus: The press will say that a gold-digger tried to steal my daughter's inheritance and got caught on security camera.
