A New Reign of Justice

Grandmother Beatrice: "Attention, everyone! May I have your focus please!"

The room immediately fell quiet as the matriarch of the family stepped onto the low podium near the grand fireplace.

Grandmother Beatrice: "For two years, this family and this corporation have been misled by lies and greed. Tonight, the truth was restored."

The board members nodded in unison, hanging onto every word she spoke.

Grandmother Beatrice: "Effective immediately, Clara Sterling is appointed Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Enterprises, taking over Thomas's rightful fifty-one percent controlling share."

The ballroom erupted into thunderous applause. Board members who had previously ignored Clara now hurried forward to offer their congratulations.

Board Member 1: "Congratulations, Clara! We always knew Thomas picked a brilliant partner!"

Board Member 2: "We look forward to working under your leadership, Mrs. Sterling!"

Clara: "Thank you. But we have a lot of work to do to restore integrity to this company."

Clara walked over to Mark, who was sitting on a velvet sofa holding Lily. The little girl had stopped crying and was eating a small sugar cookie Mark had grabbed from the catering tray.

Clara: "How are you feeling, my sweet girl?"

Lily: "My knee doesn't hurt as much, Mommy. Is Uncle Evelyn gone?"

Clara: "Yes, sweetie. Uncle Evelyn is gone, and he's never coming back to bother us again."

Lily: "Good. He was mean."

Grandmother Beatrice: "He was very mean, little one. But your mommy was very brave."

Grandmother Beatrice kneeled down on the checkered floor beside Lily, placing a soft hand on her shoulder.

Grandmother Beatrice: "This whole house belongs to you and your mommy now. You can run and play wherever you like, and nobody will ever push you down again."

Lily: "Really? Even in the big garden?"

Grandmother Beatrice: "Especially in the big garden."

Clara looked at her daughter's bright, smiling face, then down at the gleaming marble floor where she had stood her ground. For years, she had fought against the rumors, the corporate traps, and the greed of people who thought they were untouchable.

Mark: "What's the first order of business tomorrow, Boss?"

Clara: "First, we sign the official trust papers. Then, we build a brand new children's park right here on the estate grounds."

Lily: "Yay! A park!"

Clara picked up her daughter, holding her tight against her chest as the music started playing again across the grand Dallas ballroom. Justice had finally been served, and the empire was finally safe in the hands of a mother who would protect her family at any cost.
