Inside the quiet, brightly lit ballroom, two paramedics carrying emergency trauma bags hurried across the light marble floor toward Clara.
Paramedic: Ma'am, stay completely still. We need to bandage that head wound immediately.
Clara: Please check my daughter first... make sure she isn't hurt.
Paramedic: The little girl is fine, ma'am. But you have a deep laceration on your forehead that needs stitches at the hospital.
Marcus knelt beside the stretcher as the paramedics applied a sterile pressure bandage to Clara’s head. He held Clara’s hand tightly in his own, tears streaming down his face as little Lily sat on his lap, holding his tuxedo lapel.
Marcus: Clara... can you ever forgive me? I was so blind... I let those monsters control my life for four years because I thought I had lost you forever.
Clara: You didn't know, Marcus. They paid off everyone at the clinic to make sure you never heard the truth.
Marcus: Starting today, Clara, you and Lily are coming home to the main estate penthouse. You are never going to work as a waitress or hide in the shadows again.
Lily: Does this mean Mommy gets to live in the big house with us, Daddy?
Marcus: Yes, sweetie. Mommy is going to live with us forever.
Lawyer Harrison Vance walked over, holding a leather folder containing official legal transfer documents.
Harrison: CEO Sterling, as chief legal officer, I have officially executed the emergency freeze on all Vance Logistics corporate accounts. The fifty-million-dollar Sterling Master Trust has been permanently secured under the joint guardianship of you and Clara Vance.
Marcus: Thank you, Harrison. Please tell the house staff that the wedding catering food is to be distributed to the local children's shelter immediately.
Harrison: Right away, Mr. Sterling.
The paramedics lifted Clara onto the rolling gurney, guiding her toward the ambulance parked outside under the bright blue sky. Marcus held Lily in his broad arms, walking right beside the stretcher as the high-society guests stood up and broke into a warm, respectful round of applause.
Marcus: We are going to the hospital together, Clara. And then we are starting our real life.
Clara: I love you, Marcus.
Marcus: I love you too, Clara. More than life itself.
