Julian did not say a single word for five full seconds. He looked down at Chloe with an expression so cold that the blonde woman instinctively stepped back on her high heels. Her confident smile began to crack, replaced by a sudden tremor of fear.
Julian: I have been standing at the top of the landing for the last three minutes, Chloe.
Chloe: What? What do you mean, darling? I was just trying to keep the hallway clean!
Julian: I saw everything. I saw you snatch the cane from my grandmother's hands. I heard every single vile word that came out of your mouth.
Chloe: Julian, wait! You don't understand! She was being disrespectful to me all morning!
Evelyn: She... she didn't do anything wrong, Julian... Maya was only trying to protect me...
Julian turned his back on Chloe completely, ignoring her breathless explanations. He dropped down onto his left knee right in front of his grandmother's wheelchair, his posture shifting from stern executive to a devoted, caring grandson. With gentle movements, he took the wooden walking cane out of Maya's hands and carefully laid it across his grandmother's lap.
He took the old woman's cold, trembling fingers into his own large hands and leaned forward to press a gentle kiss onto her knuckles. His eyes softened with deep emotional regret as he looked up at his frail family member.
Julian: I am so sorry, Grandmother. I should never have allowed this woman into our home.
Evelyn: It's alright, my boy... I am just glad you came down in time...
Julian: Maya was doing her duty. You are fired, Chloe.
Chloe: Fired?! Julian, you can't fire me! We are supposed to be signing the official marriage contract next week!
Julian: There will be no contract. There will be no wedding. You will pack your belongings and leave my estate within ten minutes.
Chloe: You're choosing a low-class maid over me?! Over the merger between our families' corporations?!
Julian: Maya has more honor in her little finger than you have in your entire body. Get out of my sight before I have security escort you to the gate in handcuffs.
Chloe's face turned pale as white chalk. She looked around the wide marble foyer, realizing that several house staff, security guards, and kitchen workers had gathered around the perimeter. All of them were watching her with quiet, open contempt. The arrogance that had fueled her for months evaporated into complete humiliation.
Chloe: You're making a massive mistake, Julian! My father will pull every single investor out of your firm by noon!
Julian: Let him try. Your father's firm owes my corporation eighty million dollars in delinquent loans. If he pulls out, I foreclose on his company by three o'clock.
Chloe gasped, dropping her designer handbag onto the hard floor. The financial power her family held was a complete lie, and Julian had just exposed the whole truth in front of everyone. She scrambled to pick up her bag, her hands shaking uncontrollably.
Chloe: Julian, please! I was just stressed! I had a bad morning at the studio!
Julian: Maya, please call security to the main entrance. Make sure Miss Montgomery does not leave with a single piece of jewelry that belongs to this household.
Maya: Yes, Mr. Vance. Right away.
Chloe: Don't you dare touch my things, you little rodent!
Julian: Raise your voice at my staff one more time, Chloe, and I will have you arrested for criminal harassment right now.
Chloe gasped in total panic, turning around and sprinting up the grand staircase as fast as her high heels could carry her. Her heavy footsteps echoed loud and frantic against the marble as she fled toward the guest suites upstairs. The long hall fell into a peaceful, quiet calm.
