The Truth Exposed

She Found Her Mother Scrubbing Floors In Her Own Mansion

"Come out, Emily! You can't run through the woods in the dark!" Derek shouted.

Emily waited until Derek walked deep into the row of citrus trees.

She slipped out through the opposite end of the greenhouse and ran toward the main house.

She knew her mother was still locked in the lower utility room near the kitchen.

Emily used her spare house key to unlock the back terrace door quietly.

She sprinted down the hallway to the utility room and unlocked the heavy wooden door.

Eleanor was sitting on a folding chair, holding a small framed photo of her late husband.

"Emily! You came back! Is he following you?" Eleanor asked in terror.

"The police are on their way, Mom. We have Dad's real will," Emily told her.

They heard loud heavy steps echoing through the kitchen as Derek stormed inside.

"You brought this on yourself, Emily!" Derek roared as he entered the hallway.

He stopped dead in his tracks as blue and red light flashed against the glass doors.

Sirens echoed loudly through the long driveway, growing closer every second.

Three police cruisers pulled up onto the front lawn with their headlights beam high.

Four uniformed officers stepped out with flashlights drew and walked up the steps.

Attorney Sarah stepped out of the lead police car holding a legal folder.

Derek backed away from the front door, his face suddenly pale and devoid of color.

The lead officer pushed open the grand front door and stepped into the foyer.

"Derek Vance? We have an emergency injunction and a warrant for financial fraud," the officer said.

Sarah walked up next to the officer and handed him a copy of the filing.

"We reviewed the digital audit trail provided by Emily two hours ago," Sarah announced.

"The bank transfer records prove Derek illegally diverted mortgage funds to a shell corporation," Sarah added.

Derek raised his hands slowly as the officers moved in to handcuff him.

"This is a misunderstanding! This is my house!" Derek shouted loudly.

"The deed was filed under fraudulent pretenses," the officer replied firmly.

They led Derek out through the mahogany doors into the waiting police car.
