Justice Prevails

Lead Agent Miller walked quickly across the paved stone courtyard, his eyes taking in the scene of Elena bleeding near the fountain and the shattered smartphone lying beside her. Two other agents immediately headed toward the grand front doors of the mansion with hand restraints ready, moving with professional speed and authority. Miller reached Elena's side, gently holding her shoulder to make sure she was stable on her feet.

Agent Miller: Miss Elena, are you alright? Do you need an ambulance right away?

Elena: I'm bruised, Agent Miller, but I have everything you asked for right here in my hand.

Agent Miller: You did an incredible job. Secure the perimeter, team!

Up on the balcony, Richard turned around to sprint toward the back stairwell, but two federal agents stepped through the patio glass doors, blocking his escape route completely. Victoria screamed in anger as an agent stepped up to hold her arms behind her back, placing heavy steel cuffs around her wrists over her expensive beige dress. Richard tried to push past the lead officer, but he was quickly brought down onto the marble floor and restrained without hesitation.

Richard: Let go of me! Do you know who I am? I own this company!

Agent Miller: You own a mountain of evidence that proves grand larceny, wire fraud, and attempted murder, Mr. Sterling.

Victoria: This is an outrage! My lawyer will have you fired by dinner!

The agents led Richard and Victoria down the curved marble staircase and out into the bright courtyard where Elena was sitting comfortably on the stone edge of the water fountain. A team of paramedics was already tending to her cheek and wrapping her bruised wrist, but Elena kept her chin up, watching her former employers with calm satisfaction. The dark cloud of fear that had hung over the estate for months had finally lifted under the clear blue sky.

As Richard was led past her toward the back of the police sedan, he looked at Elena with eyes filled with bitter regret and defeat. All his wealth, his navy suits, and his grand estate could not save him from the simple truth contained inside the tiny metal drive she had protected with her life. He was pushed gently into the back seat of the car, the door slamming shut with a heavy sound that signaled the end of his rule over Sterling Enterprises.

Agent Miller took the silver USB drive from Elena's hands, placing it carefully inside a sealed evidence bag before giving her a respectful nod. He assured her that the company's pension funds would be fully restored to the workers and that Arthur Sterling's true legacy would be honored through proper legal charity foundations.

Agent Miller: Your courage today saved hundreds of innocent families from financial ruin, Elena.

Elena: Arthur taught me that doing the right thing is always worth the cost, Agent Miller.

Elena looked up at the large American flag hanging on the high mansion wall one last time as the police cars drove slowly out through the open iron gates. The sun shone brightly down on her face, warming her skin and washing away the pain of the fall. She knew that her path ahead would require rest and healing, but she walked away from the grand estate knowing that justice had finally prevailed, proving that honesty and courage will always overcome greed and pride.
