The Raised Stick

My Wife Raised A Stick To Our Maid Before Truth Revealed

The bright light from the ceiling fixtures shone down on the smooth wood of the hockey stick as Victoria lifted it high into the air.

Hannah let out a sharp gasp of fear and dropped down onto her knees, pulling little Lily tight against her chest to shield the child with her own body.

The little girl wept hysterically, burying her tear-stained face into her mother's shoulder while Hannah curled over her to absorb any incoming blow.

Nathan was standing near the hallway entrance, his heart pounding wildly against his ribs as he realized what his wife was about to do.

Nathan: Victoria! Drop that stick right now!

Victoria: I am teaching this thief a lesson she will never forget!

Hannah: Please! Don't hurt my child!

Victoria: Both of you are leaving this property this instant!

Nathan sprinted across the polished oak floor, his leather dress shoes making heavy, echoing sounds against the hard wood.

His face was filled with complete shock and urgency as he reached out to grab Victoria's wrists before she could swing the heavy stick down.

He grabbed the polished wood with his strong right hand and yanked it out of Victoria's grip, throwing it far across the room where it hit the wall with a loud bang.

Victoria stumbled back, her eyes wide with fury as she glared at her husband for intervening in her angry outburst.

Victoria: How dare you lay your hands on me for a maid!

Nathan: Have you completely lost your mind, Victoria?

Victoria: She is a common criminal hiding in our house!

Nathan: You raised a stick against a mother and a helpless four-year-old child!

Hannah remained on the cold floor, her knees trembling uncontrollably as she held her weeping daughter as tightly as she could.

Her face was wet with tears, her breathing coming in deep, desperate gasps as she looked up at Nathan standing between them and his furious wife.

The silence in the large kitchen was suddenly deafening, broken only by the sound of the small girl's soft, rhythmic sobs.

Nathan knelt down on one knee in front of Hannah, his face softening as he looked into her terrified, tear-filled blue eyes.

He reached out a gentle hand to help the young mother stand up, but Hannah held onto his sleeve with desperate strength.

Hannah: Nathan, please save the little girl! She's your daughter, Nathan!

Nathan froze instantly in place, the world around him seeming to stop completely as those loud words hit his ears.

His eyes widened in complete and total shock, his mouth opening slightly as he stared at Hannah's desperate face.

A heavy heartbeat sound echoed in his mind as he slowly turned his gaze from Hannah down to the weeping four-year-old girl in her arms.

Victoria let out a sharp, mocking laugh from behind them, though her own voice trembled slightly with sudden nervous tension.

Victoria: What kind of ridiculous lie are you telling now to save yourself?

Nathan: Hannah... what are you talking about right now?

Hannah: Look at her, Nathan... look at her face and tell me you don't see it!

Nathan slowly reached out his hand and gently pushed back the soft, golden curls from little Lily's tear-stained forehead.

The little girl looked up at him through her wet eyelashes, revealing bright blue eyes that were the exact shape and rare color of Nathan's own eyes.

On her left cheek was a tiny, faint birthmark shaped like a crescent moon, identical to the birthmark Nathan carried on his own neck.

The realization hit Nathan like a physical blow to his chest, draining all the color from his face as the truth revealed itself.
