Ethan: David, hand me the tablet from my briefcase.
David: Here you go, Mr. Vance. The live feed log is pulled up on the main dashboard.
Ethan tapped the glass screen with his thumb. A clear 4K video popped up, showing the hallway outside the nursery from yesterday afternoon. On the screen, Vanessa could be clearly seen screaming into her cell phone before grabbing Toby by his small cotton onesie and shoving him roughly into his crib.
Ethan: Is this what you call luxury infant wellness, Vanessa?
Vanessa: I had a migraine! I lost my temper for two minutes!
Ethan: Look at the screen. You left him in that crib from two in the afternoon until eight at night. You didn't enter that room once. Clara was tapping on the locked door, begging you through the wood to let her feed him.
Vanessa: I was resting! A wife needs rest!
Ethan: You were on the back patio drinking expensive wine that my hard-earned money paid for while my child screamed his lungs out in the dark!
Vanessa: You work all the time! What about my emotional needs?! What about what I go through every day in this massive house?!
Ethan: You live in a thirty-room luxury mansion with a full household staff! You have an unlimited black credit card, a luxury car, and zero financial worries! And yet, you couldn't find an ounce of humanity to treat an innocent seven-month-old baby with kindness!
Clara: Mr. Vance, she also opened your private safe in the study last Thursday when you were in Chicago.
Ethan: What?
Vanessa: Clara, shut up! Keep your mouth shut!
Clara: I was dusting the bookshelves behind the desk, sir. She didn't see me. She brought a locksmith into the house while you were away and had him bypass the electronic keypad on your personal document safe.
Ethan: Is this true, Vanessa?
Vanessa: No! I lost my gold necklace and thought I dropped it in your safe! I had a legal right to open it!
Ethan: My personal safe holds the original deeds to the estate, my late wife's diamond jewelry collection, and Toby's sole-beneficiary trust fund paperwork.
Clara: She took a big blue folder out of the safe, sir. She photocopied every page on the home printer and put the originals back.
Ethan: The inheritance documents...
Ethan stepped closer to Vanessa, looking down at her with complete disgust. The woman he thought was a soft-spoken, loving partner was nothing more than a cold, calculating monster who married him for his bank account.
Ethan: You weren't just trying to get rid of my son. You were setting up the legal groundwork to alter his inheritance rights.
Vanessa: You promised me when we got married that we would be equal partners in everything! But you left everything to him in your will! You left me with nothing but a small monthly allowance if you die!
Ethan: Because this fortune belonged to my late wife's family! It was built for her son! You didn't earn a single penny of it!
Vanessa: I am your legal wife! I deserve half of everything you own!
Ethan: You won't get a single dime. In fact, you're going to lose every single thing you came into this house with.
