Jake: Let's see what happened outside this bedroom door twenty minutes ago, shall we?
Evelyn: Jake, stop this madness! We are a family! We can settle this privately inside the study!
Jake: We are not a family, Evelyn. You are a predator who wore a burgundy dress to breakfast while planning to assault my wife.
Jake tapped his phone screen three times, playing the recorded video file. The crystal-clear audio from the phone echoed through the high-ceilinged bedroom.
Phone Audio (Evelyn's Voice): "Sign the paper, you pathetic little gold-digger, or I will make sure you leave this house on a stretcher!"
Phone Audio (Megan's Voice): "Get away from me! Don't touch me! Help! Jake!"
Phone Audio (SFX): Heavy thud against the bedroom door, followed by a sharp slap and Megan screaming in agony.
Jake looked up from his phone screen, his eyes burning with cold, focused fury as he held the device up so Evelyn could see the video playing in full daylight.
Jake: Look at that, Evelyn. Clear view of your face as you dragged her back into the room by her hair, holding those papers in your left hand.
Evelyn: Delete that... delete that video right now!
Evelyn lunged forward, clawing frantically at Jake's phone with her hands, but Jake easily stepped to the side, grabbing her shoulder and shoving her backward onto the hard marble floor.
Evelyn: Ouch! You laid hands on me! I'll have you arrested for elder abuse!
Jake: Try it. I'll hand the police this phone, the papers from your bag, and the blood samples under your fingernails. Let's see who goes to jail first.
Megan: Jake... please call the ambulance. My leg is burning so badly.
Jake: Hang on, sweetie. I'm calling 911 right now.
Jake dialed three digits on his keypad and pressed the speakerphone button, holding the phone firmly in his hand while keeping his body positioned between Evelyn and the bed.
Dispatcher: 911 Emergency Services, what is your location?
Jake: I need an ambulance and police units sent to 1400 Crestview Drive immediately. My wife has been physically assaulted inside our home.
Evelyn: No! Cancel the call! He's lying!
Jake: The suspect is still on scene. Her name is Evelyn Vance. She attacked my wife with her hands and forced her way into our bedroom. My wife is bleeding severely and needs immediate medical assistance.
Dispatcher: Units are dispatched and on their way, sir. Stay on the line with me. Is the suspect armed?
Jake: She's not armed with a weapon, but she has blood on her hands and she's trying to flee the premises.
Evelyn scrambled to her feet on the marble floor, her burgundy dress rumpled and her hair messy. She grabbed her fallen keys from the floor and bolted out of the bedroom doorway, her high heels clicking loudly down the grand staircase.
Jake: She's running down the stairs toward the garage, Dispatcher. I'm staying here with my wife to administer first aid.
Dispatcher: Good decision, sir. Officers are two minutes away. Keep your door secure.
