The Smothered Cream On Oak

His Sister Smashed The Birthday Cake To Save His Life

The bright afternoon sun poured through the high windows of the grand living room, filling the space with warm light that reflected off the polished oak floors. Cream-colored walls and white crown molding gave the mansion an air of elegance, while a large framed painting hung proudly above the mantle. Friends and family gathered around the mahogany dining table, clapping and singing as a beautifully decorated three-tier birthday cake sat in the middle. The white vanilla frosting glistened, filled with rich raspberry jam, but the joyful mood vanished in a split second.

Jason: Lily, have you completely lost your mind?! You just ruined a five-hundred-dollar custom cake!

Lily: I don't care about the money, Jason! I care about keeping you alive!

Chloe: She's lying, Jason! Look at her, she's screaming like a crazy person because she's jealous of us!

Jason: Lily, look at the mess on the floor! Jam and thick cream are everywhere! What is wrong with you today?!

Lily: Stop looking at the floor and look at my phone right now! Look at what Chloe did in the kitchen twenty minutes ago!

Lily thrust her phone directly in front of her brother's face. On the high-definition display, clear video footage began to play. Chloe was clearly visible standing near the marble kitchen counter while holding a small brown glass vial. She carefully poured a thick liquid into the cake batter, glancing side to side to ensure no one was watching her move.

Jason: What... what is that video?

Lily: That's Chloe pouring poison into your cake batter! I caught her on camera from behind the pantry door!

Chloe: That's fake! That video is completely fake, Jason! She used an AI app to fake my face!

Lily: An AI app?! I took this video on my phone five minutes before the cake was brought into the room!

Jason: Chloe... answer me right now. Is that you in the kitchen?

Chloe: Of course it's me in the kitchen, honey! I helped bake the cake! But I was putting vanilla extract in the batter, not poison!

Lily: Vanilla extract doesn't come in a vial with a skull danger warning on the label! Look closer at the video, Jason!

Jason leaned over his sister's phone, zooming in on the screen with his thumb. The red toxic hazard label on the bottle became clear as day in the zoomed footage. His breath hitched as he recognized the dangerous warning symbols printed on the glass container.

Jason: Oh my god... Chloe, what is that bottle?

Chloe: It's... it was a special baking supplement! An organic sweetener from Europe!

Lily: You lied! I checked the brand on the label! It's an industrial chemical solvent that causes sudden cardiac arrest!

Jason: Sudden cardiac arrest?! Are you out of your mind, Chloe?!

Chloe: She's making up stories, Jason! Why would I ever want to hurt you?! I love you!

Lily: You love his family estate, Chloe! You love the ten-million-dollar life insurance policy he signed last month!

Jason: Wait... the life insurance policy? How do you know about the policy, Lily?

Lily: Because I found the legal papers in her purse this morning! She set the whole thing up!

Chloe: You went through my personal belongings?! That is illegal search! Jason, fire her as your assistant and kick her out!

Jason: Shut up, Chloe! Nobody is getting kicked out until I figure out what is happening in my home!

Lily: Look at her face, Jason! She's shaking because she knows she got caught red-handed!

Chloe took two steps backward, her face turning pale as her lips trembled. She glanced nervously toward the heavy wooden exit doors of the grand living room, clearly looking for an escape route.

Jason: Don't move an inch, Chloe. You aren't leaving this room.

Chloe: Jason, baby, please listen to me... this is all a terrible misunderstanding between us!

Jason: A misunderstanding?! You put industrial solvent into my birthday cake!

Lily: Look at the ruined cake on the floor, Jason! Look at the white cream turning a strange blue color near the center!

Jason looked down at the smashed cake spread across the floor. Sure enough, near the thick layer of cream where the liquid was poured, the white frosting was reacting with the air and shifting into a synthetic dark blue hue. A harsh, sharp odor began rising into the room, making several guests back away in fear.
