The afternoon sun beat down on the iron gates of the Dallas estate as two moving vans pulled up the winding driveway.
Victoria stood on the grand front porch in a silk robe, holding a cup of tea while screaming at three workmen who were placing orange cones near the entrance.
Victoria: Get off my property this instant! I will have you all arrested for trespassing!
Worker: Ma'am, we were hired by the new estate management firm to change the locks on the main entrance.
Victoria: I am the estate management! I own this mansion!
A black SUV pulled up behind the moving vans, and Sarah stepped out onto the gravel driveway, accompanied by Lawyer Vance and two sheriff's deputies.
Sarah: You don't own a single brick of this house anymore, Victoria.
Victoria: You insolent little viper! How dare you set foot back on my land after getting me arrested!
Lawyer Vance: Mrs. Sterling, I am serving you with a court-ordered emergency eviction notice issued by the Dallas County Probate Court.
Vance handed a thick packet of official legal documents to one of the deputies, who walked up the porch steps and handed them directly to Victoria.
Victoria: What is this nonsense?! My lawyers are handling the minor assault charge! This has nothing to do with my home!
Lawyer Vance: Read clause nine of your late husband's trust agreement, Victoria. Your violent assault on Chloe Sterling constituted a direct breach of your temporary executorship.
Victoria's hands began to shake as her eyes scanned the court order. The tea cup slipped from her fingers, shattering on the stone steps below.
Victoria: This... this is a forgery! Charles would never leave a clause like this behind!
Lawyer Vance: It is certified by the Texas Supreme Court archives, Victoria. As of twelve o'clock today, Sarah and Arthur Sterling are the legal guardians of the estate trust.
Victoria: Arthur! Where is my son?! Arthur, tell this woman to stop this madness!
Sarah: Arthur is at home with Chloe, where he belongs. He gave me full power of attorney to handle your removal.
Victoria: You can't throw me out onto the street! I am an old woman! I have lived in this mansion for thirty years!
Sarah: You have two hours to pack one suitcase of personal clothing. Everything else inside this house belongs to the Sterling family trust.
Victoria: You monster! I built this family's social standing! I raised Arthur!
Sarah: You abused my husband his entire life, and then you tried to do the exact same thing to my daughter. Your reign of terror ends today.
Deputy Martinez: Ma'am, we are here to escort you inside to gather your personal belongings. Please cooperate, or we will have to take you back into custody for civil contempt.
Victoria looked around at the pristine estate, her eyes wide with total defeat as the weight of her reality finally crashed down on her.
Victoria: My friends... my society club... what am I going to tell them?!
Sarah: Tell them that cruelty always comes with a price tag, Victoria. And yours just came due.
The deputies walked Victoria through the front double doors, leaving Sarah standing alone on the grand porch, looking out over the sprawling lawn.
She pulled her phone from her pocket and dialed Arthur's number, a small, genuine smile finally forming on her lips.
Arthur: Sarah? Did it go smoothly?
Sarah: It's done, Arthur. She's packing her bags right now. The house is officially ours.
Arthur: Chloe is right here next to me... she wants to speak to you.
Chloe: Mommy? Are we going to live in the big house with the pretty garden now?
Sarah: Yes, my sweet baby. We are going to turn that big house into a real home, filled with love and laughter.
